The follow-up to the incredible Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T has a lot to prove. Is it the best phone under £200?
Decent battery life, Excellent quad camera, Incredible value for money
No major improvements on Redmi Note 8T
Redmi Note 9 Review: Is the Redmi Note 9 worth the increased price and should Redmi Note 8 users upgrade to this one? Let’s find out in...
You get a lot for your money from the Redmi Note 9, with impressive hardware and design, and power that leaves many rivals in the dust. The camera might be a little over sold and the software brings a lot of bloat with it, but it's a capable handset.
Plenty of power, Premium design, Great battery life, Value for money
Display brightness control is a bit random, Sound quality from speaker not great, Camera system a bit oversold
The Redmi Note 9 is the direct successor of the Redmi Note 8 launched back in 2019 . The device comes with Mediatek Helio G85 CPU, instead of the Snapdragon 665 used in the older version. The display now is a 6.53-inch FHD+ screen with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution.
With its big screen, big pixel-count, and large battery the Redmi Note 9 will likely scratch your flagship itch on a budget. Sure, it won't stack up to pricier smartphones in terms of design, camera zoom, low light imaging, or power, but for the price, it's still a winner, despite a few UI gremlins.
Great battery life; Competitive camera; Big, bright screen;
Plastic frame; No telephoto camera; MIUI can be clunky;
I love my Xiaomo phone and the clarity of the screen etc. No problems. I would prefer it to be smaller but that is a personal preference and obviously has nothing to do with its performance.
I love this phone, it has a good display, great sound and price. I bought it 3 weeks ago, and I'm already enjoying it. I like the 48MP quad camera, the photos look amazing but could be better. The notch doesn't bother me. 4 GB ram are fast and efficient. Which I upgraded from an Samsung a10 with only 2gb. But the battery last like a day which is nice
An excellent budget phone, but unless money is very tight the Redmi Note 9S offers better value still.
Competitive pricing, Quad-lens camera, Dual-4G, 3.5mm headphone jack
Plastic body, MediaTek chip sacrifices performance & battery life, Camera focus can be soft
