Despite some flaws, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is still a charming, fun and interesting RPG. It's extremely time consuming so take that into account, but it's got a great story that should reward your patience as you get through the game.

A cut above the rest - Xenoblade Chronicles 2 review

While it's definitely got its flaws, and it doesn't quite reach the same exceptional standards as its predecessor, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is definitely worth playing. With robust, customizable combat, fun characters and an interesting story, and huge environments to explore, it's one of the best...

The combat is satisfying; strategic; and customizable to the player's preferred fighting style; The world is huge and interesting to explore; The story is fun and different than its predecessor

The voice acting makes it difficult to take the game seriously at times; The interchangeable nature of the combat makes the characters feel less unique; The performance is less than stellar more often than I would like; The beginning of the game feels restrictive and tutorial-heavy

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Review - A Titanic Journey

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was an absolute joy to review. There's a lot of Switch titles that have come out so far this year that have really grabbed my attention. Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey were two of the most ambitious games of the year, and they actually delivered, which is more than...

Huge world to explore; Combat is complex but still approachable; Plot is paced well and doesn't lean too heavily on JRPG tropes

The game suffers from slowdown at times; Tags

If you still needed a reason to buy a Switch, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is it.

Fascinating setting with a rich backstory; complex and deeply satisfying combat system; Poppi

Lack of a tutorial menu; voice acting is uneven; steep learning curve

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Available exclusively on Nintendo Switch on December 1 The has had a fantastic opening year. In less than 12 months we've seen several potential masterpieces grace the system, including and . This streak is almost unimaginable, showing a company that's back on form and ready to make gaming history.

Huge and beautiful world; Deep yet accessible combat; Plenty of stuff to do; Nia is bloody lush; Amazing soundtrack

Easy to be overwhelmed in the opening hours; Inconsistent localisation; Performance problems in certain areas

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

It's time to depart in search of Elysium. It's a journey, a new (capless) odyssey, and it's one that you simply shouldn't miss on your Nintendo Switch. After receiving universal acclaim with the series' last adventure on planet Mira, Monolith Soft.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Switch won't disappoint series fans, especially those that love the Wii original (or even experienced it on New 3DS). It's a new cast and world, with some fresh mechanics and ideas, but much is still familiar.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 applies an energetic signature and wax seal to a wonderful year for the Nintendo Switch, and for JRPGs in general. Between the amount of time it takes to get used to the game and getting through everything it has to offer, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a worthy investment for...

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Review

I'd be hard pressed to name any console that's had a better software line-up in its first year than the Nintendo Switch. Whether it's been a remarkable new entry in a storied franchise, a fresh IP, or a port of a well-loved classic, Nintendo's spectacular handheld has delivered on all fronts.

Incredible world; Likeable and engaging characters; Involving combat; Layers upon layers of depth

Performance drops; Sexualised character design; Repetitive battle speech

Open World JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Soars On Switch

The Xeno series is a largely disconnected set of games with similar story elements among them. Xenoblade Chronicles was one of the swan songs of the Wii, a game with mediocre graphics but incredibly open environments, one of the best soundtracks of all time, and an over the top Japanese story that...
