Wrecking The Reich

Bethesda and MachineGames have produced a definite winner in Wolfenstein the New Order. It isn't a revolution in the first person shooter space but it's definitely a worthy evolution. The game is at its best when it is reveling in its gloriously unapologetic Nazi slaughtering violence.

Great implementation of old school game mechanics, Satisfying and viceral combat, Open level design with lots of secrets to uncover, Compelling alternate history setting; Great atmosphere, Supporting cast is well written and interesting, Nazis are bad

Boring opening mission, Questionable A.I; and difficulty level, Graphical glitches, Perks system not as fleshed out as it could be

Wolfenstein: The New Order Review

Wolfenstein is an ancient franchise, having started with Castle Wolfenstein for the Apple II 8-bit computer in 1981. Its most recent entry was Wolfenstein in 2009, a by-the-books shooter that scored well but did not sell well, resulting in the IP being transferred over to MachineGames and its parent...

Wolfenstein has always been different from other WWII shooters; Decent length; Item pickup is clumsy

Story could be stronger; Gun selection is thin

Trying something new

I’m really picky about the games I play and I always do a lot of research on the game before I buy it because I want too know if it’s worth buying, I know the manager of the GameStop where I bought this game and he highly recommended it and I didn’t think I would like but I love it.

PlayStation 4 Review: ‘Wolfenstein: The New Order'

I am unconvinced by Wolfenstein: The New Order. I played Wolfenstein 3D growing up, and Wolfenstein before that. Okay, that last one is a completely different genre even if it is part of the franchise, but I include it because I have fond memories of it.

Nazi killing is always good!!

Having played previous Wolfenstein games some good some not so good I was wary of this. My fears however were laid to rest when I got to properly playing the game.

‘Wolfenstein The New Order' for PlayStation 4

Wolfenstein®: The New Order™ reignites the series that created the first-person shooter genre. War hero B.J. Blazkowicz must launch an impossible counter-offensive against the monstrous Nazi regime that has conquered the globe…Europe, 1960.

weapon inventory wheel; compelling story; characters; level design; mechanics; relatively high replay value; simplified stealth combat options; musical score

dual weapon action; laser cutter/weapon; perk system; no multiplayer mode

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a refreshingly original addition to the FPS genre simply because it's not afraid to embrace old-school mechanics. Longtime fans of the genre will be delighted in its delightfully brutal action, and will find themselves immersed in a truly memorable universe where...
