‘Wolfenstein The New Order' for PlayStation 4

Wolfenstein®: The New Order™ reignites the series that created the first-person shooter genre. War hero B.J. Blazkowicz must launch an impossible counter-offensive against the monstrous Nazi regime that has conquered the globe…Europe, 1960.

weapon inventory wheel; compelling story; characters; level design; mechanics; relatively high replay value; simplified stealth combat options; musical score

dual weapon action; laser cutter/weapon; perk system; no multiplayer mode

Wolfenstein: The New Order Review

B.J.'s weapon selection is nothing short of what you'd expect to find in this reimagined game. He's got knives, pistols, and assault rifles up the wazoo! You'll have access to his full arsenal before you know it, like upgrades that include scopes and rocket attachments.

Visually stunning; Compelling story you'll want to finish; Killing Nazis never gets old

Odd gameplay to cut-scene transitions; Tags

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a refreshingly original addition to the FPS genre simply because it's not afraid to embrace old-school mechanics. Longtime fans of the genre will be delighted in its delightfully brutal action, and will find themselves immersed in a truly memorable universe where...

Wolfenstein: The New Order Review (PS4)

Imagine, if you will, a world in which the Nazis won World War II. The world would be a completely different place than the one we know now. Oppression, punishment, strict order, death, torture, intolerance - these are the things that would befall society.

Nazi killing; Surprisingly deep story and characters; Balanced gameplay with tons of options; Did I mention you get to shoot Nazis

Periodic graphical and AI glitches; Audio imbalances with no way to correct; Game does not pause when controller dies

Wolfenstein: The New Order Review

Firing up Wolfenstein: The New Order for the first time, I wasn't expecting it to be any good. To be honest, what single campaign first-person shooters are these days Far Cry 3 was probably the last one for me.

Old gameplay in a fancy suit; what's not to like; Great vocal active throughout; Over the time weapons make a comeback

Old chunky car models; plucked from the 90s; AI could be improved at times; Some areas in the game felt a little slow or repetitive

Wolfenstein: The New Order PS4 Review

In a terrifying alternate reality the Nazis have won World War II, though not in the conventional way. With advanced technology on their side they've turned the tide on Europe and have forced the United States to surrender with a heady mix of cyborg dogs, giant robots and pure evil.

Wolfenstein: The New Order review

But overall the new Wolfenstein game is a pleasure. There’s variety in its levels and flexibility in the way you approach combat. There’s gore, insane set-pieces and obvious-but-effective scares. And while it doesn’t do much that’s particularly new, it will keep you entertained from start to finish even as the silliness struggles against the sincerity. All in all a very effective plug for the next-gen gaming gap. READ MORE: The 200 Greatest games of all time Review by Tom Parsons

At its best offers big, bombastic fun; Great production values; Inventive setting and tech; Open combat options;

The balance between silly and sombre isn't quite right; Some difficulty imbalances;

Wolfenstein: The New Order

A new take on the long-running WW2 series has some great ideas and fantastic action sequences, although the tone varies wildly
