Inspire confidence
Bought a pair of these to use as a 3TB RAID 1 array for my NAS enclosure. They are fast, quiet, they run cool, and they are good value for money at £89 a piece. Also had nothing but good service from WD drives over the years, so am confident these will be the same.

Good value
Used one before on my home NAS, which runs 24x7. Good balance between capacity, value, investment, future-proofing. Bought a couple of these for a new NAS system built around the WD 'My Cloud EX4100' for my cousin. Easy set up, low noise, reliable product.

Solid HDDs
I am a novice in IT. I have had four 2-TB Red HDDs in my Synology 411j for the past three or four years. Knock on wood, I have never had a problem. Two months ago, I bought a new Synology 216+ii and put two 3-TB Red HDDs. So far they are working perfectly and I am quite happy.

3 out of 8 dead (replacement works fine for now)
Purchased 8 drives for two Sagate Black Armor NAS 400. One drive failed immediately and I sent it for replacement. Within a week, second died (just trying to spin on for few seconds after restart and that's it). Tryed to hook it up to three different system just to run S.M.A.R.T.

I never would have imagined these drives would not arrive in working condition. I've always had good luck with WD drives. These came making a loud clicking noise and couldn't be recognized for formatting.

NAS drive
Works well in the Raid5 Drobo it's set-up in. This one is actually a spare on the shelf. Have five others running in the Drobo without any issues.

Great product for NAS
Bought 2 of the drive 3 days ago to upgrade my D-Link DNS323 server. It's like a breeze to replace two old 500 Seagate 500GB drives, and works right away. Noise level is much lower than previous Seagate drives. The new drives work quietly. After 3 days continuous work, it looks to be quite reliable.

Western Digital Red NAS Hard Drive Review [WD30EFRX]
It's an interesting decision - WD is expanding their low-power 3.5" hard drive offerings with a second line at the same time Seagate exists the "green" market, claiming low-power drives aren't really all that beneficial or quite frankly, special.
Pros:
- Best in class power consumption
- Strongest sequential read and write performance
- Suited perfectly for SOHO NAS environments
Cons:
- Best in class power consumption
- Strongest sequential read and write performance
- Suited perfectly for SOHO NAS environments
- Weaker random I/O performance seen in our mixed workloads

WD Red WD30EFRX 3 TB SATAIII Storage Drive Review
WD came up with newer line-up of hard drives "Red" suitable for 24/7 for NAS drives. Since a lot of personal and SOHO NAS was featured in this year's Computex, storage drives made specifically for NAS operations was something that was present in Enterprise Series. Consumer?
