Review: WD My Passport Wireless Pro

Smartphones and tablets have certainly gotten more and more capacious in the last twelve months: Apple's got an iPad with 256GB of space, and SanDisk's 200GB microSD card similarly upped the ante for Android.

WD My Passport Wireless Pro: The Gizmodo Review

Broadly speaking, there are two types of people who need a portable hard drive. One type just needs a little additional storage periodically and would rather have something flexible and portable than a big honking drive that plugs into the wall.

disappointment

The unit is slow and has no handshake ability with pc on network . i might as well walk around house and plug unit in port. what a waste of wifi (144mB/s)

Perfect for digital needs

Works well with SD cards, wifi on the go and I even use it with USB for Time Machine. Fast and convenient.

WD My Passport Wireless Pro review: A portable hard drive made for mobile streaming

We had only two real complaints about WD's original My Passport Wireless media-streaming Wi-Fi hard drive: short-ish battery life, and an inability to charge other devices. WD has remedied both shortcomings with the all-new My Passport Wireless Pro.

Western Digital My Passport Wireless Pro review

This time around, the My Passport Wireless Pro , a souped-up version of the aforementioned wireless drive, landed on our desk for evaluation – note that it complements rather than replaces the existing model.

Great battery life; Sturdy design; Simplified software setup

USB Type-C port would have been nice; Price will put some people off

Open authentication with this device

The My cloud app for android automatically backs up pictures and videos. If you wish to back up other files such as music, documents, or SMS text messages, then you must use another app or complete the task manually.

WD My Passport Wireless Pro 3TB USB 3.0 External HDD , Black Colour

This device is great for my photography workflow. It's powered so you can just back-up your SD cards in the field using the in-built card reader (USB 3.0 so this is a fairly quick process).
