I'm using this as a removable HD for diaster backup. I keep the drive in our safe in a hardrive storage case waiting for the inevitable PC failure. Solidly built drive, plenty fast for this use and I assume will outlast me and my PC.
Bought two of these to replace old drives which were starting to fail. Used in a home file server that is designed to fully saturate the network bus. Have had consistently fast read/write speeds under various workloads, fast access times and generally great performance.
Great drive. I got this on sale so it was slightly cheaper than the black drive. It's completely suitable for desktop use...although I don't recommend using it for anything but your main drive (c) because it powers down after about 5 minutes (even with Hard Drive Power set to NEVER) so it can lag...
Quality as was expected
Installed and was recognized immediately.
WD has always been reliable, hopefully these drives will not be an exception; A few more $ than the others, but I purchased these because I wanted reliability; I didn't want to deal with failing drives and potential loss of data
No cons
very happy
works fast; and quality build; 128meg cache
nothing i have seen yet
This is a fast hard drive which is nice & quiet. It does get a tad warm though, so make sure you play the flow from a cooling fan across it and you'll be OK. 128mB of onboard cache memory helps the speed.
