Good drive, large size, needs to adjust idle/spin down

Overall a good drive, the only reason if lost a star was because I needed to adjust wdidle3 to prevent it from failing prematurely.

WD Caviar Green (3TB)

What are technological limitations when you have history to make? That must have been Western Digital's controlling thought process when conceiving its latest Caviar Green drive.

Highest-capacity hard drive on the market

Slow for a 3.5-inch drive; Will not work in Windows XP systems; May require an adapter card; Cannot be used as a boot drive on most PCs

These are great drives for extra storage for media or what have you. They are good value over the higher performing drives if you just need storage without the extra speed.

Quiet Operation; Low power usage; Plenty of Storage; Runs Cool

Nice Drive

The fact is the drive is still alive after a long use as a storage drive (external), fast enough for USB 2.0 Transfer, not noisy at all..

Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB Review (WD30EZRSDTL)

Western Digital has both announced and started shipping their 5th generation Caviar Green hard drive. Of course the major highlight this time around is the monster 3TB capacity, a first for internal 3.5" hard drives. WD accomplishes this feat by leveraging Advanced Format and four 750GB platters.

Huge 3TB capacity; Speed increases over the 2TB model; Lower write; idle; and startup power consumption; As bleeding edge as it gets for computer storage for now

Compatibility will be an issue for some until systems meet UEFI standards; Significantly higher price per GB over 2TB model

Western Digital 3TB Caviar Green HD review

That's a big chunk of change for 50% more capacity. You could purchase two 2TB drives for less than the price of a single 3TB unit. However, keep in mind that you'd also end up with twice the power consumption and twice the heat generation, so it might not be a good trade-off for small form factor...

Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB: An Expensive Storage Option

W estern Digital's WD 30EZRS certainly looks an attractive storage solution with an enormous 3 TB capacity and a 64 MB cache. The new 3TB internal hard drive for desktops looks like a good option for those who want to store a ton of movies, software, games and images.

WD Caviar Green 3TB Reviewed

The Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB drive overcomes a boundary that has taken hard drive manufacturers quite some time to overcome, but it falls short of wowing us. The overall performance of the drive is extremely lacking and we found that even as a backup drive, it lacked the speed that it's...

Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB and My Book Essential 3TB Drives Reviewed

Two months ago I looked at the world's first 3TB desktop hard drive . It was a 5 platter, 3TB Seagate Barracuda XT inside an external GoFlex Desk chassis. The performance of the drive wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but the poorly ventilated chassis seemed ill equipped to deal with the thermal...

Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB Hard Drive

Western Digital is one of the big names in hard drives, and one of their latest releases puts a much stronger emphasis on the word big. » Largest capacity drive currently available; » Big doesn't mean slow; » Energy efficient; » Runs cool and quiet

» High price tag; » Lots of data to be lost with one drive failure
