Quoting the words from WD MyBook Essential 3TB Review: Today we'll evaluate the WD30EZRS drive which comes with SATAII interface…
Six months ago we took a look at a number of hard drives which included a bit of everything really. Some high end SSDs, budget models too. High performance mechanical drives and laptop models were included also.
As a newly introduced hard drive, the 3TB Caviar Green is at its cost zenith. That should start to dip significantly over the next few months. If you can't wait, the only thing you're out is the extra money. Added capacity and lower maintenance issues are genuine pluses.
Working good till now!
Durable; Reliable
I've had this hard drive over a year & four months now. So it's still in good working condition. Recently had it converted into an external hard drive for another device. So I plan on getting another one for my upgraded PC to backup my current hard drives.
value; Quiet; Easy to Use; Performance
The fact is the drive is still alive after a long use as a storage drive (external), fast enough for USB 2.0 Transfer, not noisy at all..
WD s Acronis software will only INSALL when a WD drive is detected. Thats silly- should only RUN when WD drive installed-, you want to install it ready for when you put in the new drive, typically while the old one is still in place.
Very quiet, very fast, Value for money; WD's free version of Acronis imaging software, resized and moved all data without error
Nothing for the Drive
The headline-grabbing capacity of three whole terabytes is what really makes this Western Digital Caviar Green HDD stand out, but is there anything more to it than sheer size? With the focus squarely on the burgeoning SSD market it would be all too easy to overlook spinning platter drives.
What are technological limitations when you have history to make? That must have been Western Digital's controlling thought process when conceiving its latest Caviar Green drive.
Highest-capacity hard drive on the market
Slow for a 3.5-inch drive; Will not work in Windows XP systems; May require an adapter card; Cannot be used as a boot drive on most PCs
