Very fast

Getting 120Mb/s in both read and write speeds across the whole drive, much better than my old RAID 0 Raptors. Probably the fastest mechanical drive you can get without going solid state! Makes a perfect games and media drive, with BF3 maps loading in around 15 seconds.

Buh Bye Seagate

I was a died in the wool Seagate user for over a decade until their quality went down the drain. Switching to WD was the best choice I could have made and I haven't regretted it for a second. I bleed WD Black (boot) and Green (Time Machine).

Almost 3 years old without a hiccup running 24/7 Seagate looks like a child's toy next to WD Makes me coffee in the morning

Not free Doesn't really make me coffee in the morning

Warranty Warning -

I suggest you check your serial number on Western Digital' website to see if your drive has a 5 year warranty.....Mine bought in March and Warranty expires 10 / 2018. That is not the standard 5 year warranty of a black WD drive.

Western Digital RE 4TB Review

The WD RE 4TB drive is specifically meant to handle an enterprise workload, but don't let that scare you off, as it includes a desktop-friendly SATA 6Gb/s interface. As long as you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7 , you should be able to format it into one partition somewhat easily, though you...

Lots of storage; semi-affordable; fast

Not 1TB per platter; 3x cost of 3TB drive

When Seagate released their 1.5TB drive it took the storage community by surprise. At the time companies were just getting their 1TB drives perfected with second generation products starting to make their way to market.

Western Digital RE4-GP 2TB Review: Big Green Gets Meaner!

Since posting my Caviar Green 2TB review, I figured we would be wrapped up on Western Digital drives for a short while.  Hitting 2TB is a pretty significant milestone, and I would suspect hard drives to hang out at that capacity, since passing the 2TB barrier is a complicated proposition.

At the current time, the 4TB market is . As mentioned in the intro, three of the readily-available drives all have the WD warlord watching over them – so regardless of which one you buy, you'll ultimately be supporting the same company.
