Second failure.
I bought a WD black 1TB a few years ago and it ended up failing on me. So I bought another WD black 1TB. And now it too has just failed. Research complete. I need to switch brands.

Western Digital Caviar Black 4TB review
We have to be honest here. The Western Digital Caviar Black 4TB is a bit of a letdown. It came out more than 6 months after the Hitachi 7K4000 4TB , yet the Hitachi is faster, cheaper, quieter and more efficient.
