Very well done

Very good use of the Butterfly Effect (what choice you make within the game, could possibly affect the game later on) I won't spoil the story, but this game has to be played at night in the dark to make the most of the story. Some scenes will surprise you! You have to see it for yourself.

Until Dawn: a dark night rises

As cheesy horror goes, you've never had it this pretty or entertaining but when it comes to a one off experience, Until Dawn is expensive interactive terror.

Its a bloodstained love letter to every horror movie youve ever seen; The tone of 90s schlock horror is down to a fine art; The pace isnt afraid to make you wait for scares (of which there are plenty

Youll feel somewhat cheated when it comes to early decisions making a difference; For a full price game; this is a painfully short experience; Replay value is diminished by set plot points throughout the game

Fun 'til Dawn.

The choices you make in Until Dawn have more far-reaching consequences than in most other survival horror games: the butterfly effect feature it so heavily relies on is highly effective, adding weight to seemingly innocuous choices and creating a game that feeds deeply into player paranoia of making...

Narrative offers dozens of branching paths with varying outcomes; Choices matter in big ways and affect the rest of the game; Actor performances are incredibly good; Mechanics are utilized in a meaningful way that feeds into the horror film experience; Repeat playthroughs offer new information and...

Camera angles are unflattering; Story gets predictable at its midpoint

An easy recommendation for those looking to munch on some popcorn while you get the crap scared out of you.

An intense horror experience shaped by your decisions and indecisions

Some slight control issues and structural quirks hamper some of the replayability

Until Dawn Review

Perhaps more proficient in keeping the player tense than in delivering legitimate scares, Supermassive Games' Until Dawn is an interesting blend of survival horror and choose your own adventure.

Until Dawn review – interactive cabin in the?woods

One of the more successful interactive movies of recent years, but that's really not saying much given the lack of gameplay and horror thrills.

A good script and a mostly successful attempt to mix horror genres, while confounding at least some expectations; Excellent graphics and solid voice cast

Outside of the big decisions there's very little in the way of gameplay or player agency; For a horror game it's not very scary or gory; The desire to replay episodes is greatly overestimated

Until Dawn

Until Dawn's a QTE-ridden horror whose best beats play out as an amalgam of some of the cinema genre's stronger works, none of which we can name else they'd reveal too much about what happens.

Until Dawn Review - Teenage Wasteland

Let's face an uncomfortable truth: Slasher films usually work because we, as viewers, don't mind seeing obnoxious teenagers get butchered like livestock. If the teens are sufficiently annoying, viewers usually start rooting for the killer.

Great atmosphere; Interesting narrative; Meaningful story choices; Peter Stormare is pure joy in human form

Not much traditional gameplay; Some characters more interesting than others

Until Dawn Review

is a flawed, but fun experience. Though an unfocused story means it falls short of greatness, it's an otherwise entertaining homage to the curious traditions of horror movies which pays off your in-game decisions with occasionally shocking consequences.

Tongue-in-cheek tone; Creepy environments; Choices have real consequences

Silly; derailing second half; ‘Doctor Hill' fades into obscurity

Until Dawn Review – Grab Your Nightlight and Dive Into This Masterpiece

How do you define a game? How do you define entertainment? Can they be defined? In recent years, the lines between games and other media forms have become increasingly blurry – Until Dawn obliterates the line entirely.
