Tomb Raider is an exhilarating action adventure that serves as a terrific origin story for the iconic Lara Croft.

When adventurer extraordinaire Lara Croft raided her first tomb back in 1996, she brought with her an exhilarating feeling of isolation and discovery. Over the years, Lara has continued to venture into parts unknown, taking dark turns and frequently tangling with the supernatural as the series...

Story believably builds Lara up from unsure academic to confident adventurer; Fascinating setting with a rich sense of history; Intense combat that offers a good deal of flexibility; Controls make physically overcoming the island's terrain a pleasure; Good assortment of tombs to raid; relics to...

Forgettable multiplayer component; Outside of Lara's character arc; story is predictable

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Review

Tomb Raider remains a very good game. It was one when it was released early last year, and with some next-gen polish it's now an even better experience. If that's all you needed to hear before rushing off to buy it, then do so with our blessing. For those that need more, onward we continue.

Not new, but improved.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is a refined version of an already good game, the successful 2013 reboot of the Lara Croft franchise. Everything exceptional about last year's title remains the same, while touches like improved particle/lighting effects and a completely revamped character model for...

Incredible vistas around every corner

The whole experience feels a little too automated

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Review

TR: Definitive Edition's good looks are a bonus. It's still Lara, great pacing, and clever design that make it amazing.

Lara's Never Looked Better

Crystal Dynamics has held the reins of the Tomb Raider franchise since 2006, when publisher Eidos decided that Core Design had run the series into the ground. After two solid new titles and an updated remake of the original games, the studio finally hit a home run with 2013's Tomb Raider, a reboot...

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Splashing a fresh coat of attractive paint on what was an already incredibly polished game doesn't necessarily change it, but the makeover can sure enhance it. Such is the case for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition , Crystal Dynamics' Xbox One launch of last year's excellent series reboot, which now...

+ Dramatic upgrade in visuals make for a prettier (and gorier) journey; + The same fantastic gameplay experience as on 360

- Kinect features feel a bit like shoehorned novelty additions; game still lacks a certain sense of discovery, ?

Review: Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is merely a facelift

Tomb Raider is a truly excellent adventure, but it's hard to recommend Definitive Edition if you've experienced it before.

Best looking version on a console; Mechanics and design are rock solid; Single player campaign is amazing..

...as it is on cheaper versions; Voice and gesture commands feel superfluous; Paltry amount of extra content; given the price

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition (Xbox One) Review – Cash Grab or Money Well Spent?

Unless you've been living under a rock you've likely played, or at least heard of, the Tomb Raider reboot that was released to consoles back in March of 2013. A franchise that was at great risk of drowning in mediocrity and fading away was given one more chance to come up for air and start fresh.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Last year's Tomb Raider reboot was an outstanding game. It took a few cues from Uncharted to help modernize the franchise, which was fitting since Uncharted took more than a few from the original Tomb Raider series as well.
