Below expectations and average.

The reboot of Thief feels rushed, dull and just boring. All the levels use the same black and greys with little imagination. The stealth elements feel good and there's a bit of variety in the weapons and ways to kill or distract enemies. The story is paper thin with characters made of cardboard.

Thief PS4 review – stolen dreams

The creators of Deus Ex: Human Evolution reboot another classic first person franchise, but has the heart of Thief been stolen?

The stealth mechanics work very well, and collecting your ill-gotten gains is worryingly addictive; Excellent graphics, with some bombastic set pieces

Far too linear, both in terms of level design and your range of stealth options; Half broken artificial intelligence and a half-baked, incoherent storyline

The long con of Square Enix's Thief reboot

For all its big heist ambitions, Thief is all about the long con. It looks good from the start, with just enough shiny bits and nods to the original series to draw you in. But stick with it until the end and you'll have nothing to show for your time but dreams gone bust.

Thief

The most recent entry in the Thief series was met with significant criticism prior to its launch for the changes made to what was perceived as a good existing formula. As someone who had not played the previous games, I entered this title with no preconceptions or high or low expectations.

Best Game Ever

I'm not one for writing a lot but I am a 48 year old gamer who loves these sort of games and this one does not disappoint in any way. The graphics, the story, the missions just everything is amazing, so engrossing and I love sneaking about killing people!

Thief Review

The HD re-releases publishers seem to be churning through these days are risk-free. You screw with textures, fix things people disliked in the first place and change the HUD to be compatible with widescreen monitors.

Thief Review (PS4)

Where does he keep all of the stuff he steals?

Light/Dark stealth gameplay works well; Throwback to original stealth games; Hoarding things can be fun..; There is an interesting twist mid-game that makes for an entertaining chapter

Too many long loading screens; No real evolution or reward to gameplay; ...until you realize you have a problem with hoarding every spoon and letter opener; Story is disjointed and has stuttered flow; Game simply feels dated

Thief (PS4) - Review

The legacy of Looking Glass Studios looms over the video game industry. The System Shock franchise evolved into BioShock , led by Ken Levine and Irrational Games to great critical acclaim.

Good stealth I love stealing things in this game and ...

Good stealth I love stealing things in this game and in the real life too I don't like loading screens and the map design the story is meh Pro tip: you have to play stealthy you are a thief not kratos so avoid every single encounter with the bad guys and you will have a nice stealth game

Decent game, but not without fault.

I want to express straight away that I am a newbie to the thief series. Although I am not able to comment on the how this new game compares to previous in the series, I am going to try to complete this review from a 'newbie perspective'.
