Thief maintains the strengths of its stealth-centric predecessors and offers plenty in the way of actual thievery, but don't expect any fun, new gameplay mechanics or an enchanting story in this reboot.

For all its big heist ambitions, Thief is all about the long con. It looks good from the start, with just enough shiny bits and nods to the original series to draw you in. But stick with it until the end and you'll have nothing to show for your time but dreams gone bust.

The most recent entry in the Thief series was met with significant criticism prior to its launch for the changes made to what was perceived as a good existing formula. As someone who had not played the previous games, I entered this title with no preconceptions or high or low expectations.

The box says Thief. This is clearly Garrett. There are some other recognizable bits that'll stoke the flames of nostalgia for fans of the series, but

The story of Thief is underwhelming, and the rest of the game feels like a Dishonored wannabe. Which is a shame considering how beloved this franchise is for some people. It's not a total loss, but it's not especially fun.

Awesome game, lots of fun

with high hopes being a fan of the originals from my adolescence. Sadly the linearity and technical issues do not allow it to reach the heights of the previous games.

I want to express straight away that I am a newbie to the thief series. Although I am not able to comment on the how this new game compares to previous in the series, I am going to try to complete this review from a 'newbie perspective'.
