PS4 Review - 'The Occupation'

Buy The Occupation It's pure coincidence that I get to review The Occupation , of all games, just days after British politics made big news when Theresa May, the British Prime Minister, announced her resignation in the fallout of Brexit negotiations. Just my luck!

The Occupation review – a very British Deus Ex

A staggeringly ambitious, gun-free immersive reality detective game set in an alternate 1980s Britain, whose admirable intentions are undermined by technical problems.

Excellent voice-acting bolsters an unusually deep plot in which your decisions and discoveries feel as though they really matter

It suffers from frequent; sometimes game-breaking glitches; there's no way of saving in levels that take over an hour; and its controls get in the way even when everything's working as intended

The Occupation

The immersive sim genre is one of our favourites, and it offers a blend of gameplay that has given rise to some of the standout games of the last two decades. When done properly, the results can be magnificent, but it's a risky proposition to make something that's built around so many moving parts.

Rage against the machine

Great story; Investigating is exciting; Voice acting is superb

Security guard has poor AI; Bugs affected my experience

Stumbling In The Dark

A fantastic story is buried too deep within The Occupation's dull stealth gameplay and technical issues.
