It's virtually impossible for me to calculate just how many times I've read Tolkien's books, that's including The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (LotR) trilogy. Make no mistake, I was equally partial to Peter Jackson's big-screen interpretation of what's probably one of the most popular fantasy...

An interesting account of elves; dwarfs and Dunedain rangers as they counter Sauron's Northern armies; decent voiceovers; fun coop

Outdated visuals; stuttering problems often lead to excruciatingly low framerate; AI gets confused in battle sometimes; mundane combat which you've experienced many times before

Ever remember the classic Golden Axe? Enemies ran at you, and you had to beat them away with a sword? Or if there were lots of them use a magic potion. And at the end of the level there was a big boss baddie you had to defeat.

While it's admirable that the team had opted to create an original story set alongside the events in the books, you'll wish that they had attempted to take more risks with the project. The characters are bland and lifeless, and the combat, while fun at first, gets pretty repetitive before too long.

Love this game! It's a hack-and-slash type of game with a great side story to the Lord of the Rings series. Loved it so much that I immediately started the hard mode difficulty as soon as I finished the normal story mode. Some quirks here and there with UI options and such, but doesn't matter.

Bit short and in places a bit repetitive but enjoyable all in all.

They sing songs about Frodo and Gandalf and that lot, but guess who was protecting their flank and fighting the battles of the north during that time? A man, an elf, and a dwarf - with help from the Great Eagles. Surely that's a story that deserves telling.

Story : Side story of the Frodo's adventures. A female elf, a dwarf and a ranger hunting down one of Sauron's liutenants in the north called Agandaur. Graphics : Mediocre especially in 2013. 1440p does not help it either. A true average console graphic quality.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North is an action-RPG set in Tolkien's famous Middle Earth, at a time corresponding to the events in the Lord of the Rings (Fellowship through Return of the King). This game does not involve the player's active participation in the famous fellowship, however.
