When it was released just over a year ago, we called The Last of Us a high-water mark of current-generation gaming. Now, thanks to the Remastered version, The Last of Us has also done the same on next-gen consoles.

The Last of Us is a masterful tale of two individuals who are both authentic and flawed. It creates one of the most memorable video game experiences I have ever played and I believe its the best game to come out in the last ten years.

Still a stunning achievement in both storytelling and third person adventure, and although this is the definitive version the differences are still minor.

Dynamic, tense, and highly visceral combat against believable human – and inhuman – opponents; Superb storytelling and pitch perfect voice-acting; Meaty and imaginative multiplayer

The story and character development goes nowhere for much of the middle third of the game; No major additions on the PlayStation 3 version, despite the high asking price, and the ally AI is still flawed

...And unfortunately The Last of Us is not. I've lived with the hype of TLOU for a full year; now that I have finally played it I am disappointed. As a character driven narrative TLOU is nearly perfect. The small moments between characters are a joy to watch.

It doesn't say a lot for 2014 when some of this year's most anticipated releases are next-gen upgrades of popular PS3 and Xbox 360 games.
