The Last of Us Review

PlayStation 3 isn't only well-known for its number of exclusive games, but for the sheer number of quality exclusives. That's what makes even more impressive, because not only does it join the ranks of Uncharted, Killzone, God of War, Infamous and more, but it bests them all.

Superb storytelling; Immersive; rich environments; Stellar voice acting; sound design; Beautiful graphics; Excellent Gameplay

The Last of Us (PS3) Review

Last year at E3, Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" was my undisputed most memorable game from the show. Despite not even getting my hands on the game while on the show floor, and only watching the demo from the cheap seats at the Sony E3 Press Conference where "The Last of Us" had the arena buzzing, I...

The Last of Us Review

If zombies could, they would rise up in revolt against the video game industry. And you can't blame them. Almost every game has had the undead, infected or walking dead in one form or [...]

The Last of Us

We'll cut to the chase. With The Last of Us, Naughty Dog has created a late PlayStation 3 classic to equal Uncharted 2 and 3; a story-led action adventure that delivers on all technical, narrative and gameplay fronts, though sometimes less upfront about pushing the console hardware to its limits.

Immersive story; Impressive graphics and lifelike animation; Rich characters and tense; gritty atmosphere; Effective mix of stealth; action and survival horror

Can feel overly linear and scripted; AI isn't consistently brilliant

In The Last of Us, you have to earn the right to survive (review)

It's difficult to talk about what makes The Last of Us so good without cruelly spoiling it for anyone who hasn't played it yet. So much of that involves the sharp writing and evocative performances during pivotal moments in the narrative - even as I grew unsure of its direction, I never once doubted...

At first, the diametric pairing of Joel and Ellie plays like a weird buddy cop film; Joel still remembers what life was like before the Cordycep fungus began to spread, but in the 20 years since the outbreak hit, he has become an efficient killer - he accepts the brutality that is now a part of...

As well-acted and animated as your allies are - including Ellie and the other folks you'll meet - they can sometimes seem a little odd; The most common problem is due to a conscious design decision: Both the humans and the infected are extremely sensitive to any sounds you make, so instead of...

The Last of Us Review

Success is something of a double-edged sword and one would suspect that beneath all the marketing and PR exuberance that the staff at Naughty Dog have had this on their mind throughout development and more so with the release date approaching.

The Last of Us

There are games that define a generation and they typically come at the end of the product lifecycle. They stand out as pushing the hardware beyond anything we'd seen prior and they have storylines that you'll remember for all time.

Multiplayer is not tacked-on – it's well worth playing, Storyline is shockingly engaging; I felt very invested in the narrative, Great mileage on this title – roughly 16-18 hours for single player, Award-deserving audio across the board.

Subtitles can be spastic; throwing multiple conversations together; Occasionally; friendly AI does some VERY unstealthy things; One failed trigger point required a restart of the area; Handful of non-intrusive Havok engine hiccups; Some puzzles have secondary solutions; but most are linear

The Last of Us

The Last of Us is based in a zombie universe that has been tried and tested quite a few times. Its the package that is awesome. The disappointment I faced was that after 15 hours of playing the game I had to switch off my console and join the real world.

Great graphics; Gameplay is smooth; Voice acting is top notch; Story is worth running through more than once; Brutality in combat is great

Some textures draw in as you approach them; AI characters dont see your comrades even if they talk; make noise or run from right in front of them

The Last of Us Review

While odd clipping problems and particular invisible walls are forgivable, the various AI fails are harder to excuse. Enemies seemingly treat your companions as ghosts, not seeing them in sneaking situations, which means that you're not screaming at friendly AI for giving away your position, but it...
