I can't say that it's hard to justify buying The Last of Us again, because I know that I enjoyed the original game and the Remastered edition has all the DLC that I missed the first time around.

That's right warning foreword, a The Last Of Us is an amazing game. In my game of the year columns for 2013, I believe I said it was "the most important game of the generation". I don't usually say this, but I'm not wrong. Naughty Dog achieved astounding things in video game storytelling.

If Only There Were More

The Last of Us is a great game that blends a superb story with gameplay that hits almost all of the right goals. Had it not been for the AI and the somewhat superfluous multiplayer, the game would be more than worthy of a maximum grade.

Opening with one of the most captivating introduction sequences I have ever experienced in a videogame, The Last of Us starts up by taking your breath away and seldom stops. Joel, a father and a wanderer finds himself in a world succumbing to a unique type of zombie apocalypse.

Gripping storyline from beginning to end; gritty, realistic combat; strong character development

Platforming is relatively limited; small number of enemy types

It was a fantastic story and it was very touching to see how the father/daughter relationship between Ellie and Joel developed.  But while we learned a lot about Joel, there was still much to learn about Ellie.

The Last Of Us will go down as one of the best survival games made, and probably one of the best games of the generation. It's not perfect, but it does so much right it challenging the player to make important decisions, always burdened with the consequence of death.

While odd clipping problems and particular invisible walls are forgivable, the various AI fails are harder to excuse. The Last of Us is definitely something special, and Naughty Dog can be proud of what they have put up here, as this will probably be one of the better games you have played in the last few years and may continue to be for a number of years still.

Naughty Dog delivers yet another fantastic experience. This is one that should not be missed by anyone.
