The Last of Us: Left Behind review

Left Behind shares many of the traits that make The Last of Us so good, but as a prequel, it is unable to surprise the player with its parent game's trump card – its plot. Even so, it's an enjoyable companion piece to the best game of last year.

Great writing and characterisation; Exquisite new environments; Fantastic voice acting

A lack of big revelations; Some minigames skirt the precipice of dullness

Review: The Last of Us

If you've been living under a rock since last year, The Last of Us was hailed the almighty ruler of the PlayStation 3 long before its release date.

The Last of Us Review

If zombies could, they would rise up in revolt against the video game industry. And you can't blame them. Almost every game has had the undead, infected or walking dead in one form or [...]

Hats off to naughty dog

This is the best game I have ever played. Awesome graphics and amazing story line makes it the best game ever. Enjoyed it a lot. At some points of time it also makes you cry.

The Last Of Us

While Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise was breezy, adventurous and a jet setting romp, The Last of Us could not differ more, oozing with gravitas and suspense, evoking rather than in tone. Indeed, its world, while at first grim and at times bleak, gradually opens up, becoming in its way beautiful.

Excellently drawn characters and voice acting; Engaging story; Many genuinely thrilling and frightening moments; Magnificently detailed

Weapon selection could have been made more accessible; Joel and Ellie's story comes to an end

What's love got to do with it?

What makes life worth living? The Last of Us tries to answer that question by giving us a vision of a world that makes no room for people to really live their lives anymore. In this post-pandemic military-ruled society, the most anyone can hope for is merely to survive.

Tells a beautifully written; beautifully acted story; Intense; harrowing combat; Excellent pacing; Nice visual enhancements over original release; Includes the exceptional Left Behind story DLC and a few new features

Friendly AI behavior can still be jarring at times

The Last of Us: Art vs the videogame

The late great film critic, Roger Ebert, infamously said that videogames could never be considered art. Ebert even went on to say that he had tried the "videogame of the year" and was more than ever convinced of his stance. That game? Dark Souls .

Solid shooting and stealth mechanics; wonderfully realised environments

Story may leave you feeling down for a few days

Best PS3 game!

If you are a fan of the Walking Dead tv show on AMC then this is the game for you. Very intense survival game that makes you watch your every move and count every last bullet or arrow.

Not the best game ever, but certainly worth playing.

The Last of Us is an action/adventure game centered around relationships. Particularly a father-daughter relationship between the game's two main characters, Joel and Ellie. These characters – along with many others, but especially these – are brilliantly crafted.

Fantastic characters and believable story

Generic gameplay; linear level design
