The Inpatient Review – A Lackluster Entry in the Until Dawn Mythos

In 2015, Supermassive Games delivered an exceptional character driven horror game with an outcome determined by your own decisions in Until Dawn . It undeniably bore its imperfections but managed to establish itself as one of my favorite titles of that year.

Outstanding sound design; Beautifully detailed environments

Poor character development; Convoluted narrative; Sluggish controls

The Inpatient Review – Tense But Lacking Scares

The Inpatient serves as a prequel to the events of Until Dawn. Taking place roughly sixty or so years before the events of the main game, you are put into the role of an unknown patient in Blackwood Pines Sanatorium.

Strong Atmosphere; Great Visuals

Poorly Paced; Too Passive An Experience; Weak Storyline

A grim; captivating portrayal of mental decay; Bone-chilling soundscape creates an oppressive sense of dread; Expert storytelling leaves its mysteries for you to solve on your own; Voice recognition option adds to the game's immersive qualities; Scares are subtle and don't rely on overused jumpscare...

Movement is a bit clunky; temporarily breaking the immersion
