The Darkness II Demo Impressions - Xbox 360 Version Tested

When it was announced that Starbreeze Studios had passed on development duties of The Darkness II to Digital Extremes, I was a tad disappointed. Starbreeze seemed to tap directly into the collective consciousness of fans of Top Cow's superb comic series "The Darkness".

The main character in The Darkness 2 is a man with a very particular set of skills; skills he has acquired over a very long career. Skills that make him a nightmare for... just about everyone. Actually, he's a living nightmare. Meet Jackie Estacado - the mob boss host for 'The Darkness'.

The Darkness II

We've all got a dark side. Whether it's rush-hour traffic or a snotty boss, something gets under your skin and makes you want to turn furniture into firewood. But when Jackie Estacado pops the cork on the Darkness - the sinister presence he's kept bottled up inside him since the last game - the...

+ Gameplay expertly mixes gunplay, melee carnage, and avoiding light sources, + Diverse range of upgrades; absorbing story with minimal distractions; addictive co-op

The Darkness II Review

If you've heard anything about The Darkness II , sequel to 2007's comic book-inspired, cult-fave horror-shooter, it probably concerns its multi-limbed mechanics. Called "quad-wielding" by developer Digital Extremes, the feature generated plenty of buzz when early previews displayed its ability to...

'The Darkness II' review (Xbox 360)

arrives five years after its cult classic predecessor, and the good news is that the wait was worth it. The first-person shooter excels with its quad-wield gameplay, but it is the narrative and distinctive comic book art style that really help the title stand out. The story, penned by

The Darkness II Review

The Darkness II is a shooter. OK, so that seems a pretty odd statement to make: Of course The Darkness II is a shooter! But in this sequel's case, it's an important point to consider. The Darkness (the original game) had the feel of an adventure.

Demonic arms + solid gunplay = fun times; Unusual; creepy story that's more than just cheap shocks; Skill tree gives the action some diversity; Excellent voice acting and sound effects

Incredibly short campaign; Linear levels and second-rate AI make for predictable encounters; Run-of-the-mill co-op missions lack challenge

Action Packed!!!

This game has a beautiful action packed adventure throughout. Decent story. Interesting graphics. Lots and lots of really cool blood and gore that is way over the top. Beautiful violence. If your a fan of action games, do not miss this one. It will blow your mind. A MUST HAVE!!

The Darkness II Review

The original Darkness game seemingly came out of nowhere and impressed a lot of people, myself included. It was a new take on the FPS genre that told a dark story without sacrificing gore in favor...

+ Great storytelling; + Visceral and brutal; + Combat is fantastic; + Love the art style

Enemy types repeat far too often; Story takes a bit to warm up; Short campaign

The Darkness II Review | Deliciously Destructive And Demented!

Playing through The Darkness was an absolute joy, well maybe with the exception of the multiplayer, thanks to a mix of guns, supernatural powers, crazy little minions, creepy visits to the realm of The Darkness, an amazing story, and a bucket load of blood that left us wanting more.

Great story, Awesome combat, The cell-shading style really makes you feel like you're in a living breathing comic book, but ; .

; ; ; at times it feels a little bit cheap and nasty, The main game is far too short, You can only posses The Darkling twice in the entire game
