Tamron 200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF SP AF review by mikekovach
I have been using this lens on a Sony A700 and have never had an issue with the quality of the images. I do wish that the lens has SSM and a much faster focus. With that said, I found for my sensor setting the ISO at 800, SS at 500-1000 and aperture between F9\F16 really improves the sharpness of...
Pros:
- Excellent results from 200-500
- no distortion
- CA or loss of detail
Cons:
- Difficult to hand hold at full extension

REVIEW: Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Review
The AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 E ED lens is an FX format powerful telephoto zoom, ideally aimed at sports and wildlife photographers. It has a constant but modest f/5.6 maximum aperture, which enables a fairly compact design for its focal length.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Telephoto Zoom Lens Review
I really can't recall the last time I became so emotionally involved with a lens. This affordable Nikkor telephoto zoom is sharp, easy to hold, and at under $1400 you simply cannot go wrong. If I sound excited, I am!

It's been a tempting couple of years for sports and wildlife photographers, with a flurry of very affordable super-telephoto zoom releases. First Tamron impressed with its game-changing 150-600mm f/5-6.3, then Sigma released its own brace of widely acclaimed 150-600mm f/5-6.3 lenses.

This lens will become a classic, if it\'s not already so! The most bang for you buck for a Nikon branded lens of this focal range, out of this world VR, very useful range, not too heavy, very good build quality, f/5.6 is quite useful and a good compromise. What else could you hope for.
Pros:
- Locks only at 200mm, and the locking system is fragile
- Make sure you are at 200mm before atempting to lock it, otherwise you risk breaking the internal locking system, which probably is just a little piece of plastic
- Also, don\'t try to extend the zoom if it\'s locked for the same reason.
Cons:
- Very easy to handle, light for such a range and usefulness
- Pretty fast for a lens of this price
- VR is pretty outstanding, never used a Nikkor with such an efficient VR system
- Photos handheld at 500mm and 1/30s become a reality, yes, read that again...

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR
The age of the relatively affordable super telephoto zoom lens is upon us. Nikon's entry into the foray, the AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR ($1,339.95), combines crisp optics with a narrow aperture that helps to keep its weight manageable and its price down to earth.
Pros:
- Sharp optics
- Long telephoto reach
- Fixed f/5.6 maximum aperture
- Optical stabilization
- Includes removable tripod collar
Cons:
- Competing lenses zoom further
- Edges soft at 200mm
- Not compatible with some older D-SLRs

Thanks to Tamron for lending me this lens for a day at the Cincinnati Zoo. Since I knew I would be walking a lot, I took only my mono-pod with me. I am very impressed with this lens. It can take very sharp photos.
Pros:
- Will give you very sharp photos
- Zoom range of 500mm
- Build quality felt good
- Just love the design of Tamron's
- lid caps
Cons:
- Not a hand-held lens
- Should at least use a mono-pod, Wide open of 200mm could be a problem

Pretty good lens
I borrowed this lens from my father-in-law for over a year. He says he's used it for bird in flight photography, but with the auto focus on this lens, I don't see how you could do that. It worked great for egrets and other stationary birds.
Pros:
- Lots of reach Spinning filter ring and hood Really sharp from 200-380mm
Cons:
- Kind of slow Focus is not great Not all that great above 380mm
- but still plenty usable
