The latest long zoom from Tamron gives an excellent focal length range from 200-500mm. This is a Di lens that is designed to work with the APS-C sensor DSLRs. It's a very long lens in terms of its focal length and, indeed, physical size.

Perfect compliment to my 18 to 200 Canon
Along with my 18-200 Canon lens, this now gives me everything from 18-500mm with only 2 lenses. Best to use a good mono or tripod, but in good lighting it can be used without. I love taking it to the Zoo and Wild Animal Park and have taken some great photos.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Quick Focus
- Rugged
- Sharp Focus
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Heavy

Tamron 200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF SP AF review by mikekovach
I have been using this lens on a Sony A700 and have never had an issue with the quality of the images. I do wish that the lens has SSM and a much faster focus. Pros:
- Excellent results from 200-500
- no distortion
- CA or loss of detail
Cons:
- Difficult to hand hold at full extension

I recently changed my 7D for a 5D mk2 and now find that my Canon 300mm (480on my 7D)was not long enough for my needs. I am more a landscape photographer I suppose but want a lens for wildlife now and then that will give me pin sharp images in reasonable lighting conditions without costing north of...

This super-telephoto zoom lens from Tamron costs around £865 and has an internal focus design and is relatively lightweight for its focal range.
