Tamron SP AF 200-500mm f/5-6.3 DiLD Review
Photographers keen on ultra-powerful zooms might want to check out this super-telephoto from Tamron, designed to fill the frame with distant subjects The average 50-200mm telezoom is a pretty versatile lens, but falls well short when you're in need of a zoom that can magnify relatively small and

Tamron 200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di LD IF SP AF review by mikekovach
I have been using this lens on a Sony A700 and have never had an issue with the quality of the images. I do wish that the lens has SSM and a much faster focus. With that said, I found for my sensor setting the ISO at 800, SS at 500-1000 and aperture between F9\F16 really improves the sharpness of...
Pros:
- Excellent results from 200-500
- no distortion
- CA or loss of detail
Cons:
- Difficult to hand hold at full extension

REVIEW: Tamron SP AF 200-500mm F/5-6.3 Di LD (IF)
This super-telephoto zoom lens from Tamron costs around £865 and has an internal focus design and is relatively lightweight for its focal range. Photographers looking for something more telephoto than the standard 70-300mm range will look to a lens like this for capturing subjects such as birds and...
Pros:
- Good resolution throughout the zoom range
- Low CA at 200mm and 500mm
- Relatively light weight
- Filter effect control system useful when using a polariser
Cons:
- Higher CA levels at 300mm
- Zoom creeps when lens is pointed downwards
- 86mm filter size

Cheap, lightweight, and decently sharp. Autofocus not ideal for wildlife
This is the THIRD time I have submitted this review to Epinions.

- long
- cheap
- lightweight
Cons:
- Slow autofocus, no focus limiter
- Minolta version front-focuses (though Canon is fine

The latest long zoom from Tamron gives an excellent focal length range from 200-500mm. This is a Di lens that is designed to work with the APS-C sensor DSLRs. It's a very long lens in terms of its focal length and, indeed, physical size.

Tamron AF 200-500mm f/5-6.3 SP Di LD IF
The Tamron AF 200-500mm f/5-6.3 SP Di LD (IF) is a fairly recent addition to the small gang of affordable 500mm tele zoom lenses with the other two members being the Sigma AF 50-500mm f/4-6.3 APO EX and the Sigma AF 170-500mm f/5-6.3 APO.

Used with Canon 20D and XT I was Thoroughly disappointed in this lens! After reading the reviews here and on other sites, I decided to try this lens. I was looking for something with a longer reach than my 100-300mm "L" series. This is not the answer.
Pros:
- As far as the build quality
- I would say it is acceptable
- better than the Sigma and focus was fast & quiet..
Cons:
- If you are picky about your photos and do a lot of prints 8x10 or larger
- stick with "L" series lenses
- or you will be disappointed..

A very good lens with few competitors
I have owned this lens for over two years now and, as my favourite type of photography is wildlife/birds, it's my most used lens. It's enabled me to take some very good photographs during this time due to its versatility and high quality optics.
