Used with Canon 20D and XT I was Thoroughly disappointed in this lens! After reading the reviews here and on other sites, I decided to try this lens. I was looking for something with a longer reach than my 100-300mm "L" series. This is not the answer.
Pros:
- As far as the build quality
- I would say it is acceptable
- better than the Sigma and focus was fast & quiet..
Cons:
- If you are picky about your photos and do a lot of prints 8x10 or larger
- stick with "L" series lenses
- or you will be disappointed..

Tamron AF 200-500mm f/5-6.3 SP Di LD IF
The Tamron AF 200-500mm f/5-6.3 SP Di LD (IF) is a fairly recent addition to the small gang of affordable 500mm tele zoom lenses with the other two members being the Sigma AF 50-500mm f/4-6.3 APO EX and the Sigma AF 170-500mm f/5-6.3 APO.

A very good lens with few competitors
I have owned this lens for over two years now and, as my favourite type of photography is wildlife/birds, it's my most used lens. It's enabled me to take some very good photographs during this time due to its versatility and high quality optics.

Excellent for Soccer
WOW! What a lens for this price is a great bargain if you can't justify buying a gray Nikon $2000 plus lens. I have the Nikon 70-300mm lens and the difference with the Tamron 200-500mm is obsene, what a difference in quality of pic's, clear sharp fast moving pics.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Quick Focus
- Rugged
- Sharp Focus
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Heavy

Tamron SP AF 200-500mm f/5-6.3 DiLD Review
Photographers keen on ultra-powerful zooms might want to check out this super-telephoto from Tamron, designed to fill the frame with distant subjects The average 50-200mm telezoom is a pretty versatile lens, but falls well short when you're in need of a zoom that can magnify relatively small and

Tamron SP AF200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di LD (IF) Review
The Tamron SP AF200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di LD (IF) superzoom is well-balanced. The satin-black exterior blends with the same finish on an attached camera body and the lens markings are clear and readable in either white or gold.

I own Bigma and Tamron 200-500. Use with Canon 5D. CS3 records that Tamron is 200-486.I did tests to see if whether Tamron or Bigma is of longer zoom. Tripod, focus on same subject. Very obviously, if Tamron is 486mm, Bigma at the very most is 450mm, a good chance even shorter at 440mm.
