Good all-rounder

This lens is a great all-rounder! Best used in light situations and outside! With a very good zoom range! Not the sharpest of images if you are a pixel peeper! Focus can be a bit hit and miss I found! But Good build quality. I would definitely buy another tamron lens in the future!

"Cant Be Good at Everything"

As a novie in the world of DSLR I bought this lens as its focal lenth meant I could lessen the risk of getting dust on my cameras sensor through lens changing. I also wanted a lens that would limit the amount of kit I needed when taking my camera on a trip and this made this lens ideal.

Light One Lens Solution

Good for the Price

The first thing I noticed was that it doesn't zoom all the way out to 200mm. There is almost no difference between 135mm and 200mm. I compared the focal length between it's 200 and my Tamron 70-300's 200mm, and there was a big difference. Still worth the money as a walk around lens.

Compact; Internal Focusing; Zoom Lock

Not 18-200mm (more like 18-135mm

I was going on a trip to Iceland and needed a lens to capture all the incredible scenery. I wanted to travel light, so I needed a single versatile lens to suit all imaginable circumstances. The 18-200mm seemed like the ideal fit, and this model was about 1/3 the cost of a comparable Nikon Lens.

I did not own this lens but one of my family member did foor less than a year. Indeed, even if the quality was not wonderful, even taking really great care of the gear did not prevent it from the lenses inside to move (it never fell or whatever) and gave a total ly blurry image.

None

- No durability - Not so good for its price

Tamron AF 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD IF

Tamron's AF18-200mm F3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD IF was announced in February 2005 as an all-round 11.1x zoom lens. Featuring coverage from wide-angle to decent telephoto, it's ideal for a wide variety of situations – and for some photographers be the only lens they'll ever need.

Highly versatile 11.1x zoom range; Great value; Relatively small and light - great travel lens; Polariser-friendly internal focusing

Sigma version very similar; Pricier Nikkor version has anti-shake; Pricier Nikkor version is optically faster; Pricier Nikkor version has better build quality

Tamron 18-200mm lens

Also, Newegg did not have the filters needed for this lens which is an odd 62mm. Had to find those at that other website that sounds like a river. Another small gripe is that they offered free freight on this lens as well as free freight on a new SDHC memory card, but when I added both to my cart,...

Just mounted this lens last night after my UV filters came in the mail; Newegg once again, came through with quick shipping, great price, AND they are the only vendor online that had the Tamron mail in rebate advertised (that I saw anyway)

AF motor is slightly louder than the Nikon factory lenses as well as a bit slower to auto-focus

good backup lens

i shoot with d200's and have XD 18-70mm lens on one and a 18-200 VR on the other-I use D70S for back

Good all around lens; fast focus; light weight

zoom ring takes getting used to; should come with a pouch

NOT BAD IF YOU DON'T MIND FUZZ

I tried everything to make this lense work for me on my Rebel XT, and almost without fail it came up short. In almost all camera modes, aperture settings, and with the lowest ISO, photos were soft. My advice to anyone considering this lense, would be to get two lenses with smaller ranges...

Nice compact size

Poor focusing; Detail was almost always lacking
