You plug in a POE device, and it gets powered. That's about all there is to it. The power adapter appears to be of good quality. I have not been able to test it with a heavy load of multiple devices and long ethernet cables, but, it works as a desktop switch with a phone.

Easy to setup and provides plenty of PoE power. I had one fail after a severe power surge, so putting it on a power filter is a good idea. I didn't check throughput, but for powering up to four PoE Ethernet devices this is great.

The Day before I purchase the TP-LINK 8-Port Fast Ethernet Desktop Switch with Power Over Ethernet PoE, my neighborhood suffer a power outage from ConEdison, with my electric service going off and on until everything went black.
