Superlux HD 681

If you look beyond the terrible feeling of this headphone and the creeks and rattles of the poor build, you will find a pretty resolute and detailed sound that does gaming and music pretty well, although this doesn't really play to my preferences as I do like darker headphones I can't help but admit...

Good build quality / bass that extends down low / good soundstage / absolute killer for the price

Treble can be too sharp / Questionable Aesthetics

I cannot express how amazing these are for the price

I cannot express how amazing these are for the price. You're not gonna be doing boom, boom music with them, but if you want clarity in the notes, singing, drumming, piano/workstation these will give you perfect sound from what you hear to what you record. Acoustic awesome.

Super good quality for the price

Super good quality for the price, but took a really long time to ship. Great purchase for the patient ones.

Superlux HD681

Despite atrocious cosmetic qualities, the insanely cheap Superlux HD681 headphones have a sound that aspires to greatness and only narrowly misses the mark.

The Superlux HD681 semi-open headphones approach hi-fi quality with a very detailed sound, and have a very even bass response; also, they are well-constructed, comfortable, and insanely cheap

So ugly; not very dynamic and can compress some music; can sound shrill with bright material; open design means they don't work well in loud environments

Superlux HD681

Despite a few shortcomings, I can fully recommend the Superlux HD681 as a headphone contender for those seeking something that won't break the bank, yet doesn't ditch the fundamentals of good sound and user-friendly features.

Superlux HD681 headphones review: Rank and (audio)file

While the words "audiophile" and "budget" are usually mutually exclusive, this is an area we're keen to explore here at CNET, especially in the Audiophiliac blog. Products like the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR bookshelf speakers and the Lepai LP-2020A+ demonstrate that good hi-fi can be had for a little more than pocket change.

Superlux HD-681 Evo Review

The Superlux HD-681 Evo is a budget-priced pair of headphones intended for professional use. Their semi-open design means that pro use will likely be limited to checking mixes and overdubs, and not live-room tracking, but they also simply double as over-ear headphones for anyone looking for excellent sound on a budget. We've seen various prices for the HD-681 Evo, but they're available for $42.95 from Amazon, which is an insanely low price given the quality of audio they deliver. Sure, the build quality doesn't feel all that great, but if audio performance is your top priority, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more affordable option. Design Available in black or white, the circumaural HD-681 Evo headphones doesn't look like a bargain pair. The leatherette earpads and headband may not scream luxury, but the design avoids looking cheap. However, the lightweight plastic frame feels a bit lacking, though the overall fit is quite secure and relatively comfortable. The headband's unders...

The Superlux HD-681 Evo headphones deliver pro-level audio quality for an entry-level price.

Excellent audio performance with rich, full bass and crisp highs; Comfortable; Detachable cable; Ships with replacement earpads

Cable lacks inline remote; Semi-open design means some sound leakage; Somewhat cheap-feeling build
