I'll admit that when I first saw Sunset Overdrive unveiled at E3 2013 I had my doubts. An open world like experience that combined energy drinks, mutants, and over-the-top weapons was a formula I'd yet to see in a game.

Sunset Overdrive is about as punk rock as videogames get. It's loud, it's irreverent and it's crass. It's a hyper-violent shooter set in a bright, technicolour world. Sunset Overdrive is pretty much the definition of over-the-top. And it's also really good fun.
Engagingly core gameplay; Fun sense of humour; Lots of varied challenges
Occasionally feels repetitive; Humour may be grating for some
THIS GAME IS AWESOME! People have not been too thrilled with this game for stupid reasons. But over-all the game is great. It is funny, interesting, fun as all hell, and all around a great concept.
Awesome gameplay; fun gameplay
very buggy without any new updates; no co-op
Sunset Overdrive is a welcome change of pace from the dour, serious AAA games we've been playing all year. Insomniac asks "who do you want to be?" with tons of customization options, some great weapons, and a very physical way to get around the city.
In Sunset Overdrive the Xbox One has its outstanding exclusive, with the title taking fun/action to an eye-popping level. Here's an experiment: put the developers of wacky, humorous platformers and unrelenting first person shooters in a room, give their creativity all the Red Bull and sugary snacks...
Grinding is fluid and fast; Zany weapons are fun to use; Terrific humour; Loads to do
Can become overwhelming after a while
With its mash-up gameplay and electric kool-aid presentation, Sunset Overdrive has caught and held our attention since E3 2013. Can Insomniac, a studio known best for its work on PS3, deliver a quality Xbox One exclusive? Alan Bell has the verdict.
Bright, humorous, and engaging presentation; Weird and entertaining arsenal; A game that's happy to be a game; Serviceable story; Quality multiplayer
A bit of a learning curve
First of all, i have to commend Insomniac for having the courage to make the game they wanted. its not easy breaking out of the cliche and taking a real risk when making a 3rd person shooter. You can tell from this game that a lot of love and creativity went into it.
In their 20th year Insomniac games have released Sunset Overdrive, their first outing on a next gen console, built from the ground up and exclusive to Xbox One. MG reviewer Christopher plays the hero.
Super fun game and the mechanics are sublime. The only problem I now have is that the game is so fast-paced and changes so quickly that my attention span after playing it is so low I can no longer play any other game that requires concentration much less hold down a job to pay my mortgage and feed...
If blowing hordes of zombies up with rocket powered teddy bears is your thing then this game is right up your ally. One of the biggest downfalls this game has is that any kind of challenge falls off completely come mid game.
