Sunset Overdrive Review

I expected to hate this game. Since it was first revealed, Sunset Overdrive always looked a little more Poochy than Itchy & Scratchy, the sort of game with a persistently in-your-face attitude that was sure to drag.

Sunset Overdrive (Xbox One) - Review

What can I say about my time with Sunset Overdrive that doesn't include the world "fun"? It's a difficult feat, I assure you. When grinding and shooting your way through the hordes of enemies roaming the streets of Sunset City, it's a thought unable to escape your mind.

HELLO VIDEO GAMERS and welcome to your Sunset Overdrive review. I want you to read this to a high paced rock song, you know the one that gets your head bobbing and arms flailing. Perhaps get an energy drink or two and mix it with some coffee then have a couple of cold ones on the side and boost it...

Awesome Humour l Epic moments l Great design l Memorable weapons l Did I mention the humour? l Traversal is a pleasure l Plenty to keep you going back

Story is generic l Music and voices are a little off l Can be repetitive at the start

Sunset Overdrive Review

" Sunset Overdrive " is a really pleasant surprise in many ways. It's an outstanding looking title, with fantastic style, and gameplay to match it. It's much longer than I expected, and apart from the overly difficult final few missions, always feels like it's teaching you something new.

Sunset Overdrive: Mystery of the Mooil Rig

Let's all get a mooove on down to the Mooil rig and save some people. Maybe. Probably not.

New traversal options are a nice addition; oil rig provides for an interesting playground; boss fight is pretty awesome

The vertical nature of the rig can make missions frustrating; feels very short

If you liked even one of the games I mentioned above, check out Sunset Overdrive. It's definitely one of the more intriguing Xbox One exclusives to date, and worth playing for anyone that owns the system and enjoys the genre.

Sunset Overdrive review

When Sunset Overdrive asks you to go across town, you don't start running on foot or carjack some poor chump. You vault onto the top of a storefront awning, bounce two stories up into the sky, dash through the air, then stick the landing on some telephone wires and grind across them like your...

Traversing through Sunset City is a blast; Vibrant graphics and clever overall style; A fantastic player character

Gunplay is inconsistent and sometimes clunky; Trap-based defense missions feel entirely needless; Some hit-or-miss moments of sophomoric humor

(Xbox One Review) Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive has an infectious design that takes longer to reveal itself than expected but nevertheless provides a lot of fast-paced fun. The wonderful visuals, solid voice acting, and playground of a city make for a wild and wacky fast-paced third-person shooter.

Sunset Overdrive - Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines

'Sunset Overdrive's 'Fallen Machines' is good DLC. It's not amazing, but nor is it disappointing like its predecessor. It continues the lovely 'Sunset Overdrive' formula in a rote fashion - workmanlike, but not boring. Definitely worth playing if you already have the season pass.

Sunset Overdrive

You can see on first glance that Sunset Overdrive is going to be a lot of fun. The question that's piqued our interest since our first hands-on months ago is a simple one: how long that can that last? Turns out, it has an equally simple answer: quite a while.
