Sunset Overdrive Review – Xbox One

Sunset Overdrive is the first Xbox-family release from Insomniac Games, who are known for their PlayStation exclusive series such as Spyro , Resistance and Ratchet & Clank . Taking place in the fictional Sunset City, where a new energy drink called Overdrive has turned the majority of the population...

Positives Good sense of fun, with a knowing sense of humour and general lack of seriousness; Plenty of stuff to do, with a healthy dose of variety Game rewards you for playing how you want to play

Negatives Controls can be a little fiddly at times; especially later in the game

Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive is the definition of the word "fun." Insomniac has created something special here. The hilarious plot, unique gameplay, stunning art style and massive, explorable world translate to an unforgettable journey into Insomniac's not-so-serious apocalypse.

One of the Best Games of All Times

Sunset Overdrive is one of the best games I have ever played. There is never-ending humor, and endless enjoyment. The game play is something new and innovative for a third person shooter and I personally loved it. The movement was fluid and easy, and every gun felt good and powerful against enemies.

Sunset Overdrive Review: Charming Chaos

The moment I shot a stuffed kitten into a crowd of mutants and watched a robot dog decimate those monsters in pursuit of the toy, I knew Sunset Overdrive was something special. This raucous third-person shooter packs wacky weapons, a gut-busting storyline and a stylish combat system that mixes...

Unique; polished gameplay; Hilarious; irreverent story; mColorful art style; High replay value

Missions occasionally drag on too long

Sunset Overdrive

At least what they did copy, they did very well, and it wasn't so overpowering it marred any experience I had. The game never stopped surprising me with its parody and humor, and its insane combat never stopped being fun.

The forced constant-action of combat is enforced very well with solid and stable gameplay mechanics that are as fun as the over-the-top sensibilities

The Saints Row comparisons are too overbearing; and the aim-assist can be ridiculously forgiving; negating some real challenges

Sunset Overdrive Xbox One

Sunset Overdrive feels liberating in many ways; from the ridiculous character options allowing hilariously freakish combinations, to the...

Traversal and combat; Interesting vibrant world; Impressive amount of action on screen

Comedy mileage may vary; Initially overwhelming

Sunset Overdrive Review – Welcome to the Green Team Insomniac, We're Glad You're Here

I'll admit that when I first saw Sunset Overdrive unveiled at E3 2013 I had my doubts. An open world like experience that combined energy drinks, mutants, and over-the-top weapons was a formula I'd yet to see in a game.

Sunset Overdrive - Punk as

Sunset Overdrive is about as punk rock as videogames get. It's loud, it's irreverent and it's crass. It's a hyper-violent shooter set in a bright, technicolour world. Sunset Overdrive is pretty much the definition of over-the-top. And it's also really good fun.

Engagingly core gameplay; Fun sense of humour; Lots of varied challenges

Occasionally feels repetitive; Humour may be grating for some

Amazing game! Just a little buggy.

THIS GAME IS AWESOME! People have not been too thrilled with this game for stupid reasons. But over-all the game is great. It is funny, interesting, fun as all hell, and all around a great concept.

Awesome gameplay; fun gameplay

very buggy without any new updates; no co-op

Sunset Overdrive is a welcome change of pace from the dour, serious AAA games we've been playing all year. Insomniac asks "who do you want to be?" with tons of customization options, some great weapons, and a very physical way to get around the city.
