Shoot things, make them go SPLAT

This is a fun game. Great value for money and if you want, you can pretend you are Josh Chan in Crazy Ex Girlfriend, disappointing Rebecca whilst you play.

All of this adds up to a relentlessly enjoyable experience. Just when I thought I was getting a little tired of the writing or combat, something unexpected is thrown my way, giving me plenty reason to stick with it.

Speedy traversal is a blast; incredible mission and weapon variety; colorful visuals

Some repetitive side content

Offshore thrilling.

The better the game, the easier expansion packs can rely on a more-of-the-same approach (see Mass Effect 2 and Diablo III). Mystery of the Mooil Rig! is wholly effective in its series of nine missions, with objectives recognizable to those who have beaten Sunset Overdrive.

Effectively capitalizes on Sunset Overdrive's strengths; The return of Brylcreem is the tip of the comedic iceberg; New locale means more areas to grind and kill OD

Overfamiliar mission types

Played for about 4 hours so far, and am really enjoying this game. Visually, it is gorgeous, the use of color and the design of the city is amazing, everything is crisp and frame rate is 100% solid. Most important, the combination of gameplay types is so much fun.

Review: Sunset Overdrive (Xbox One)

Video game creators and marketers like their buzzwords. Today, one of the terms people like to talk about when promoting their new game is "traversal" – namely, the ways in which a player can move around the virtual world.

Great visuals, with notable ‘realistic' facial expressions on protagonist and NPCs, High replay value; Multi-player mode is fun, Side Quests are engaging, and fill up plot details

Missions can feel a little bit overly repetitive at times; Game mechanic may be a little too technical for casual gamers

Tony Hawk's Saint's Row

In retrospect, it seems fitting that Insomniac's new open world shooter Sunset Overdrive was released just days before Halloween. Why? Because it's a veritable Frankenstein's Monster, assembled from the pieces of other (often better) titles.

The robo-dog mission hints at classic Insomniac design

Finding yet another generic NPC who's going to send me on an endless parade of sidequests

XB1 Games with Gold Review: Sunset Overdrive

I've finally managed to catch up with one of the Games with Gold offerings released last month, yep I know it's May now, so I had better get my skates on with the review, especially as the freebie runs out in just under a week!

Sunset Overdrive Review - Rebel Without a Cause

When trying to describe Insomniac Games' Sunset Overdrive , you can't keep words like "irreverence", "hipster", "punk", "anarchist" and related terms away from its aesthetic. Defined by a rough and tumble rocker personality and theme, Sunset is a game premised on mocking everything larger than the...
