Not one to hang around, Sony has launched the Xperia Z3 as its new smartphone and here's our full in-depth review.
Hot on the heels of the Z2, Sony is taking another shot at the top of the flagship Android charts with the tweaked and optimized Z3 . Reviews are starting to roll in and things are looking good for this one. How good? Let's get into the details.
Water resistant; Bright HD screen; Blazing performance; PS4 Remote Play; Long battery life
Camera Auto mode is hit or miss; Limited US Availability; Sony bloatware and interface tweaks; Speaker distortion at high levels
Six months on and Sony has updated its flagship smartphone with the Z3. Not enough time has passed for the company to release a brand new device. In fact, it's best to think of the Z3 as a ‘lite' version of the widely praised Xperia Z2.
Great display; Exceptional camera; Long battery; Water- and dust- proof; Glass and aluminium body
Rare flagship without IR transmitter; No finger scanner
I got one of these. Previously had an xperia z c6603. This phone has much nicer screen and faster processor, noticeably better camera also. All big pluses for me. Very clear video playback. Very vibrant colours. Nice look. Only one downside i found so far, phone seems very slippery to hold.
Great phone. Super easy to transfer photos, contacts, music etc using Xperia transfer. Simple to set up. Great display - brilliant colour and resolution. I can't fault this product.
The Xperia is a pretty good device, upgraded from the Samsung Note 3, it runs decently and I've had little problems with it. Only issues I've had thus far is messaging problems and wanting Lollipop, but other than that it's great.
Smooth operation; Solid device; Customization built in; External SD card
Heat; Small bugs; Lollipop excluded
Having criticised the earlier Xperia Z1 and the Z2 models, we feel like Sony has made the right moves in its latest handset. The Z3 gives you the design, the power, the display, the camera and importantly, the battery life. It's the flagship device where Sony has got everything right.
Battery life; great build; waterproofing; camera performance; powerful
Sony bloatware; still a little tall; design could be a little more seamless
Refinement more than revolution, the Xperia Z3 is the phone the Z2 should have been and every bit as good as that sounds
Sleeker; lighter build; Day and a half battery life; Takes stunning pictures; Water resistant; Supports hi-res audio files
Default white balance is off; Sony pushes its subscription services; Camera's auto mode isn't 100% reliable; PS4 Remote Play isn't ready yet
If it feels like only a few months since Sony launched its last flagship smartphone, that's because it is. The
Much improved design; Outstanding battery life; Strong music and video performance; Waterproof; High-res music support; Great camera
Audio could go louder; Camera auto mode is hit and miss; Still a lot of Sony bloatware
Sony's pint-sized smartphone packs in a host of premium features without the high-end price
