Sony Xperia XZ Premium Review

Sony's top Android smartphone offering has all the bells and whistles to make it a viable contender against other top dogs. While Samsung and LG have opted to go with an all-screen phone, Sony is still taking the simple path.

Excellent performance; Great camera; Good multimedia features

Sony Xperia XZ Premium Smartphone

Last year's flagship, the Xperia XZ , was a pretty premium device itself and it launched a new design language for the Sony phone range.

Powerful performance; 4K HDR screen; Attractive design; Great Build quality; Super-slo-mo is fun

Camera missing a few features

Xperia XZ Premium Review: Insane 4K Display Can't Save This Sony

Sony's televisions and game consoles are incredibly popular, but its smartphones? Not so much. So the company went back to the drawing board with this year's model. The result, the $800 Xperia XZ Premium, combines the best of Sony's Bravia TVs and its PlayStation console.

Gorgeous 4K HDR display; Bright screen shows off lots of colors accurately; Solid front- and rear-facing cameras; Powerful performance

4K content is limited at this stage; No fingerprint sensor; So-so battery life; compared to other flagships; Super-slow-motion feature feels like a novelty

If one were to look at the Sony XZ Premium from an aesthetical standpoint, the phone undoubtedly sits in our books as arguably one of the prettiest (shiny, even) flagship smartphones that Sony has to offer.

Solid build; 4K HDR display really brings out the colors; Outstanding battery life; Fast and snappy performance

Motion Eye camera still requires some refinement; Thick bezels at top and bottom of display; Back of phone is a fingerprint magnet

Sony Xperia XZ Premium review: Fast and feature-rich, but the design needs a refresh

Sony has packed the Xperia XZ Premium with features, and its general performance is exemplary. However, the two headliners -- the 4K screen resolution and 960fps super-slow-motion video -- promise more than they actually deliver.

4K-capable screen; Super slow-motion 960fps video; Good battery life; Good sound quality; MicroSD card support

Uninspiring design; Some disappointing build materials; Slow-motion video mode lacks flexibility

Sony Xperia XZ Premium review: a pretty or pointless 4K smartphone?

The XZ Premium has a higher resolution than your TV, but can it beat the S8?

The best resolution we've seen on a smartphone; Unique design; Good camera,

4K smartphones are still fairly redundant; Screen-to-body ratio isn't good; Battery life is disappointing,

Sony Xperia XZ Premium Smartphone Review

Oh Sony, how great it is that for the second time you have made a high-end smartphone with innovative technological features available. The Xperia XZ Premium impresses with high-resolution sound, noise cancelling with the appropriate headphones and a slow-motion function that works really well.

nice-looking case made of glass and metal; brilliant 4K HDR display; good front camera; nifty slow-motion videos; compatible with high-resolution audio; water and dust resistant; up-to-date operating system; 3.5 mm audio combo; fast Wi-Fi; large number of LTE frequencies; good battery runtime; high...

pressure-sensitive front; wide bezels; main camera lacks sharpness; super-slow-motion function has strong time limit; a lot of bloatware; Wi-Fi reception is only good close to the router; GPS module a little slow; mediocre and noisy call quality; slight blue cast on display; slow microSD card reader
