If we look beyond audiophile-grade equipment, technological advancements are the next big thing that decide the price of headphones. Wireless connectivity, smart features, and active noise cancellation tend to bump up the price of any pair of headphones.

Very good sound; Easy-to-use controls; All-purpose sonic tuning; Superb battery life; Good app to customise functions and settings

Bland design; Slow charging; Wired audio output is weak

Sony WH-CH700N

The Sony WH-CH700N may be a watered down version of the WH-1000XM3, but still manages to offer a lot for the price

Lightweight; Balanced sound which can be customised through the app; Good battery life

Cannot customise level of noise cancellation; Exposed micro USB and 3.5mm headphone jack

Bought this product as a Xmas present so its potential is not know.

If it is half as good as the WH-1999Xm3, which we purchased for you and took on a number of fights to , and around China,

Sony WH-CH700N

Sony has designed two of our favourite pairs of wireless earphones in recent years, and the WH-CH700Ns aren't a million miles off that standard

Detailed; musical performance; Punchy and weighty; Impressive battery life

Not the most sophisticated performance; Rudimentary noise-cancelling

Sony WH-CH700N review: Not the best, not the worst noise cancelling cans

Sony's more affordable noise cancelling headphones have Google Assistant and Siri built-in with a more compact build than the WH-1000XM3.

Battery life; Comfortable and portable; Google Assistant and Siri integration; aptX HD

Dubious durability; ANC is just ok

Good sound quality; Comfortable to wear for long periods; Overall a good pair of headphones that don't cost the earth

Noise cancelling could be better

Sony WH-CH700N offers wireless noise cancellation without costing a lot of money. It has a design similar to its premium sibling but some functions have been removed. At Rs 12,990, it is virtually free of competition in the segment.

My upstairs neighbour bought a stairmaster and now once in a while I hear a vibration for an hour and I wanted to drown that sound away. The noise reduction is not perfect, but it helps. I needed headphones with a hard wire because my sound system is not Bluetooth compatible.
