Sony WF-SP700N Review

They fit well and sound great, but the Sony WF-SP700N fall short on battery life, and that's a deal breaker.

Extremely comfortable; Clear sound with potent bass response; Sweat-proof

Battery 40 percent less than competition; Poor noise-canceling

Sony WF-SP700N review: MrMobile is finally 'truly wireless'

Summertime is no time for over-ear headphones (as the sweat smears on my QC-35 earpads will attest). So when Sony asked me to review its new truly wireless WF-SP700N earbuds, the timing was perfect.

Sony WF-SP700N sports earbuds review: First-gen fumbles fail to halt Sony's momentum

As noted in our recent review of the Xperia Ear Duo, it’s difficult to think of any company - aside from maybe Jabra - that’s playing as deeply into the fast-growing true wireless earbuds space as Sony is. Between the experimental Ear Duo and last year’s WF-1000X, it’s clear that Sony are looking to cater to more than just that core customer looking to make the jump to true wireless. Thus far, Sony’s approach hasn’t been about offering one-size fits all true wireless products but instead opted for more-specialized fare.

The Sony WF-SP700N sports earbuds take the strengths of last year’s WF-1000X and mold them to a very different cause.

Noise-cancelling; Solid durability;

Battery life lags compared to competition; First-gen connectivity dropouts;

Have tested these for 2 weeks now and like them sharply got them when I bought the new Sony xperia xz2 handset. What distinguishes these in-ears with others is that they have very much bass that I also like, so if you like a lot of bass buy these!

Sony WF-SP700N Review: Sony Hits The Right Notes On First Attempt

The Sony WF-SP700N are actually a really impressive pair of truly wireless earbuds. These are perhaps the best model that we have tried so far. The only real downside here is the battery life.

Ever since Apple launched the AirPods back in 2016, manufacturers have been releasing competitors left, right and centre. This time around, we're reviewing the Sony WF-SP700N, which is a pair of truly wireless earphones aimed at fitness enthusiasts.

Thunderous bass; Very comfortable; Impressive clarity and detail; Splash-proof

Competitors offer better battery life; Repressed mids; Flimsy case; No aptX support

Sony WF-SP700N: True wireless noise cancelling is here

Though the noise-cancelling capabilities are impressive, the omission of aptX support but inclusion of AAC support is curious.

Digital noise-cancelling; IPX4; AAC support; Great fit; Customization through app

Mic quality; Battery life; Audio-visual lag (unless using iPhone; No aptX; Difficult to fit earbuds into case

Earlier this year, we reviewed the WF-1000X , Sony's first foray into truly wireless audio. A premium headset with a focus on audio quality and design, we found it to be an acceptable first generation offering. The all new Sony WF-SP700N on the other hand is quite a different product.

Sony WF-SP700N

Sony's WF-SP700N true wireless earphones are a rare misstep from a company that typically has much higher standards.

Secure in-ear fit; Solid noise cancellation for the price

Poor audio performance; Short battery life; Low IP rating for gym-focused earphones

Let's go back to the topic and ask should you spend the money I would say it is subjective. If you want a earbuds that can produce sound when you are working out and SQ is not a concern, go for those on AliExpress. Else, if you appreciate good music during workout, you could give it a try.

Pre Set Equalizer

Low Latency is not supported
