I liked this lens right out of the box and the longer I evaluated it, the more I liked it. This is a great little lens that, aside from strong linear distortion and some hard corner vignetting at 24mm, delivers impressive image quality, especially for this focal length range.
Purchased as I wanted to buy manufacturers own lens as opposed to a third party lens. Quite heavy and bulky but no more so than other manufacturers lenses of this type. A well built lens with excellent sharpness throughout the zoom range even at full aperture. Colours are also very good.
Sony users can choose between a wide variety of different lens options nowadays but selecting a standard zoom lens has been somewhat tricky so far. Sure, there's the mighty Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM but price-wise it's beyond the reach of most users. The Zeiss FE 24-70mm f/4 OSS is a good shot ...
As professional wedding photographers we are always looking for the the best optics for our cameras and this is by far the best lens, within this price range, that you will ever find. It is SHARP, it has a great color rendition, an amazing autofocus, it's super versatile, light, oh, did I say SHARP
I got this for my new Sony A7riii camera. This is now my very favorite lens. It takes incredibly clear and crisp pictures and the range (24-105) is perfect for my general use. I love this lens and I can see why it is a best seller for Sony.
Switched recently from Nikon to Sony mirrorless. This lens provides tack sharp images and excellent bokeh. My go to lens for landscapes and some portraits. Perfect with my A7III
Sony's FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS zoom is pricier than similar lenses for other systems, but it's also a better performer.
4.4x zoom range; Constant maximum aperture; Fast focus; Image stabilization; Light and compact; Dust and splash protection.
Expensive; Dimmed corners when corrections turned off; Some edge softness at f/4 when shooting at wider angles.
With a standard zoom the lens has to cover as many eventualities as possible as the photographer will demand a versatile optic. It must focus close, have a wide focal length range and a viable maximum aperture that is as fast, or bright, as possible.
Excellent sharpness; Well controlled distortion; Excellent flare resistance; Dust and moisture resistance; OSS system; Excellent handling; Quality manufacture
CA may need software correction
Sony’s great all-rounder, this wide aperture f/4 may not be a prime lens, but its incredibly sharp optics and zoom range make it ideal for a wide range of photographic genres, especially when choosing people as your subjects.
