Sony E 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS (Sony NEX) - Review / Lens Test Report
The Sony lens features a basically silent linear AF micro-motor for focusing. The AF speed is pretty good for a contrast detection system but it's certainly not a speed demon from a conventional DSLR perspective. DMF ("direct manual focusing") in single shot AF mode is also supported.

Sony 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3
It covers an impressive focal range, but is this the ideal Alpha lens?

Wow
This lens is amazing. Cost me my wallet but definately impressed me. Once you take this thing outta the box you'll be throw by the quality compared to other brands. You can actually put standard UV filters on and don't require the proprietary filters sony has on the 16mm and 18-55mm.
Pros:
- Zoom and quality
Cons:
- It does not turn objects into gold

Sony DT 18-200mm f3.5-6.3
The appeal of superzooms is obvious. A single lens like this, which covers a focal range equivalent to 27-300mm, can replace two or even three ordinary zooms. You don't have to worry about carrying round separate lenses, you don't have to waste time swapping from one to the other and there's also...

Having tried the 18-70mm and 75-300mm lenses this should be an excellent compromise lens . However Compromise you will definetly do. The lens operates in the same way using a middle ring to zoom in and out and a front ring to focus manually.
Pros:
- An almost all in one
- reduce lens swapping
Cons:
- not good in mid range

It's a great all around lens. Very sharp. Well built, but kind of noisy on the focus. Works well for most of photography project.
Pros:
- * Sharp, * 18-200mm Good range, * Comes with a hood
- I use to be a Canon user and most of the lens hood came separate
Cons:
- Focus could be a faster
- Bit noisy on the focus
- but you can't beat the shutter sound from the camera
