Definable worth a second look!

Love it! Having progressed from a Nex5 to the A6000, I'm thinking "wow"! The difference Biggest pluses for me would be the more user friendly menu, ultra quick auto focus and the ease of use of all dials.

Easy to use; Compact; Build quality

Sony Alpha 6000 review

The Sony A6000 interchangeable lens camera claims world's fastest auto focus

Quick and responsive; Tilting LCD; High-resolution APS-C sensor

Blocky; minimalist design; No touchscreen; Battery not as good as A5000

Sony Alpha a6000 Review

With the latest enhancements, Sony's new Alpha A6000 is one of the best CSCs you can buy.

Very good stills and movies; 11 fps burst mode; Super-responsive AF system; Quality EVF and LCD

Kit lens is too limiting; No touchscreen display; Red-dot movie button hard to engage

I agree with the first reviewer in general. However, my priorities are quite different as I am a landscape photographer who earns a living sell prints. If you care about image quality you can hardly do better than the a6000.

Outstanding image quality and the ability to use a very wide variety of lenses

A bit awkward at first if you are new to this type of camera, but not a difficult stretch; Build quality is not Pro level, though still quite good

Sony Alpha 6000 (ILCE-6000) review: Sony Alpha 6000 mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera almost has it all

Editors' note, July 2, 2014: After evaluating subsequent products in this class, I've retroactively granted the Alpha 6000 an Editors' Choice for consumer mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras, replacing the older Alpha NEX-6. While it's not perfect, it's the best all-around option in its class.

Despite small annoyances, the Sony Alpha 6000 is a great overall camera for more advanced photographers who want something smaller than a dSLR, especially if they need the continuous- shooting speed.

The Sony Alpha 6000 has seriously fast continuous shooting for the money, and its design improves upon its predecessor's already excellent one; Plus it's got an extensive feature set.

The movie record button remains annoying, and while it delivers excellent photo quality, it's not best-in-class in low light; It's also slow on startup.

Sony Alpha 6000 review

After four years, it is only now that Sony has updated its NEX-6 – one of the most popular compact system cameras the market has ever seen – in the form of the Alpha 6000. The new camera also shares some common features with the equally popular Sony NEX-7 and retains the distinctive NEX body shape,...

Sony Alpha A6000 review

The Sony A6000 is a good solid interchangeable lens camera with one major advantage over rivals: effective continuous AF which works pretty much anywhere on the frame for stills or movies.

Very high resolution 24 Megapixel sensor; Most effective continuous AF in its class; Fast continuous shooting at 11fps; Fast single AF; Good viewfinder and tilting screen; 1080p video with full manual control; Built-in Wifi with NFC and downloadable apps; Broad degree of customisation

Laborious process to set single AF area position, No touchscreen; Screen only tilts, not fully articulated, No GPS tagging built-into Wifi app, Apps sometimes feel like reinstating features, No 3.5mm microphone jack, No leveling gauge, No miniature effect for movies, No silent shutter option

Sony Alpha 6000

The Sony Alpha 6000 ($649.99 body only) is one of the fastest-focusing cameras that I've held in my hands, and the quality of the images that its 24-megapixel APS-C sensor captures is outstanding.

Incredibly fast autofocus; 11.1fps burst shooting with tracking focus; Amazing high ISO image quality; Sharp OLED EVF; Tilting rear display; In-body flash and multi-function hot shoe; Wi-Fi with NFC; Downloadable camera apps; 1080p60 video capture

Overly sensitive eye sensor; Slow start up; EVF lags in very dim light; Lacks analog mic input; Some apps must be purchased

Sony Alpha A6000 review

The Sony A6000 is, in some respects, the older NEX-6 reincarnate. Which puts it in good stead: as far as interchangeable lens cameras go, the NEX-6 was one of our favourite small scale models with a built-in electronic viewfinder, so the Alpha A6000 arrives with high expectations.

Keenly priced; built-in electronic viewfinder; tilt-angle LCD; great build quality; impressive high-res image quality; 11fps and AF-S an achievement at this price

Some autofocus accuracy slip-ups; battery life needs to be better; no touchscreen; JPEG processing a little harsh for higher ISO sensitivities

Sony A6000

Sony's new a6000 is an update of the Sony NEX-6 , a very well-regarded CSC that managed to stay the course for a good four years. That it lasted so long is testament to how special it was, given the brief shelf-life of new models nowadays.

Low light performance; Rounded specification; Solid design; Good Connectivity

Lacks a standout feature; LCD could be better
