Very well made camera and after using a few I have to say the quality of video you get from this is one of the best! I used this for some of my early YouTube videos. The audio suffers slightly as with most cameras. It was great for vlogging and Sony make some very nice quality lenses.

Sony Alpha 5100

The Sony Alpha 5100 ($549.99, body only) is the midrange model in Sony's APS-C mirrorless camera line. Like other mirrorless shooters, it delivers image quality that's on par with an SLR, but isn't nearly as big.

Fast autofocus; 5.9fps burst shooting with tracking focus; Strong high ISO performance; Tilting touch-screen display; In-body flash; Slim design; Wi-Fi with NFC; Downloadable camera apps; 1080p60 video

No EVF or EVF add-on capability; Display only tilts up and forward; Lacks microphone input; Some apps must be purchased; Requires in-camera battery charging

Sony Alpha A5100 review

The Sony A5100 is a fantastic entry-level camera for anyone who wants a step-up in quality, control and flexibility over a point-and-shoot or phone. It packs a big sensor, articulated touch-screen and seamless Wifi connectivity into a small, light and affordable body that you'll take everywhere with...

Potentially great quality from 24 Mpixel sensor; Great continuous AF for photos and movies; 6fps continuous shooting with large bursts; Tilting touch-screen which can face subjects; Powerful but easy to use Wifi with NFC

To exploit 24 Mpixels; you'll need a better lens; No viewfinder nor any means to connect one; Need to boost screen brightness for outdoor use; Basic exposure control and no GPS tagging via Wifi; No miniature effect for movies

Sony Alpha a5100 review

Sony is slowly replacing many of the cameras that used to be branded with the NEX moniker, and the A5100 is the replacement for the NEX-5T. Although the camera is the same shape as its predecessor, Sony has fitted it with the same excellent 24.3 million pixel sensor and Bionz X processor as found in...

Sony Alpha A5100 review: Compact-a-like

Since Sony dropped its NEX branding and blanketed its compact system camera line with the Alpha brand name, the range has not morphed dramatically, simply divided itself into different schools of thought: those seeking a compact alternative, and those seeking a DSLR alternative.

Small yet sensible size; good picture quality overall; point-and-shoot simplicity; 180-degree tilt-angle screen for selfies

Excess menu digging; no mode dials or standard function buttons; low-light autofocus can't be pinpointed; distortion and excessive JPEG processing qualms

Sony A5100

"Did some research and found this to be an amazing camera ! Not only does it shoot good videos but the pictures are flawless. This in many way is almost the same as the a6000, the only thing is that the body is made of plastic... which is okay... but would prefer it to be made of metal.

Poor videographers, this one's for you!

I'm sure you know the difference between this and the A6000 spec-sheet-wise but let me add a more blunt distinction from an owner's perspective: A5100 is for video shooters and A6000 is a photography monster. More bluntness: - No, the touchscreen isn't all that great and don't buy it just for that.

Sony A5100

One of the smallest, lightest and most affordable mirrorless cameras currently offered with an APS-C sensor, and sharing the same imaging pipeline as the Sony A6000, the Sony A5100 has few rivals in terms of offering good quality for the price.

Very small and comfortable form factor; Very good image quality for its class; New dual video record function; Quick autofocus and good dynamic range, Amazing amount of firepower for this size and price point, Largest sensor found in an inexpensive compact camera (APS-C, Image quality is virtually...

Lacks an EVF and external mode dial; No hot shoe; JPEG processing at higher ISOs not as good as some competing mid-level models, No EVF, Limited external controls compared to some mid-range models, No mode dial - have to go into the menus to change the mode, High ISO noise handling with JPEGs is not...

Amazing Camera!! Invest in a better lens!

Really love this camera!! Only problem for my more "professional" photographers is that the kit lens is really sub-par. For novice photographers you won't notice the difference but the more hands on photographers should definelty invest in a better lens. Overall this camera is a beast!
