Needed a new fiber optic

Big Sonus fan for years, finally decided to buy the playbar, but after installing it, it sounded awful. It was a big investment compared to other playbars, but I doubted Sonus would have a mediocre product. Turned out the fiber optic cable that came with the speaker was bad.

Sonos Playbar Soundbar

All speakers included (Sub, 2x Play:3s and the Playbar) the total price is $1996…before tax. So the argument quickly becomes convenience versus bang for buck. A boxed solution with satellite speakers could cost $1,000, add in a mid-ranged amp $400, and a Sonos connect, and you're only truthfully...

Easy as pie setup; its own music server; integrates with Sonos environment; controllable via smartphone

Only compatible with Dolby Digital (not DTS; etc); pricey ($699); not ideal for audiophiles

To create a true cinematic experience in your own home, you need a combination of high-end visual and audio components. If your home theater is equipped with a nice HDTV, adding a sound bar can complete the package.

This sound bar can connect to multiple devices wirelessly; giving your system a clutter-free look

To control the Playbar; you will need a mobile app or an adapted theater remote

I like it a great deal however.. Please see my summary.

I already owned a Bridge and a Play 5. I have a Panasonic 42" plasma TV in my living room sitting a Salamander stand that has a perfect space for a soundbar. My girlfriend and I use the Play 5 all the time and I thought the Playbar would be a perfect addition.

SONOS app is easy and works well, I think it sounds good; If the sound is "highly processed" it still sounds very pleasant, Design and size work well in my situation

Single input; Please see my summary, Play 5 has slightly better deep bass

The Best !

I've tried everything to get the sound and clarity from my TV. Two different major brand receivers, multiple sets of speakers, and three different Bose systems. The Sonos is the only one that did it for me! I no longer have all those wires with and my wife is really happy I'm finished experimenting.

Sonos or Bose

My perspective is from that of a Bose Soundtouch 300 user for the past few years. I felt like something was just not right with the whole Bose soundbar experience, don't get me wrong the audio is good but the IOS app and operation was just clunky and not polished.

Great user experience Good sound Good build quality No remote needed

Only optical input Only 2.4 GHz wifi Chunky chassis

Sonos Playbar

The sound while watching TV or Movies is awesome. Crystal clear voices. Excellent wide spread front three channels. Playing music is fantastic. Much better than I thought it would be for music. Paired with the Sonos Sub and it is a fantastic experience.

Might be the only speaker you need for your home theatre

I have a large Family Room 20 x 24 so I will probably adding a couple of more small Sonos speakers and maybe even a Subwoofer to really fill up the room but even with just this sound bar the sound quality is excellent and the bass is rich. Set up was pretty logical.

Awesome sound bar

This is an awesome piece of kit that links easily to your TV and to other Sonos products in your house. I bought this as the flatscreen tv I have struggles with heavy sound and leaves films and tv programs lacking in depth, with this play bar there is none of that any longer.
