Sonos Move review: Finally, a portable Sonos with Bluetooth connectivity
We've been waiting a long time to see Sonos launch a portable speaker with Bluetooth streaming. In fact, we asked co-founder Tom Cullen about a portable speaker back in 2015, so it's something we've been pining after for a while.
Pros:
- Excellent sound quality
- Durable and water-resistant design
- Bluetooth capabilities
- AirPlay 2
- Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa support
- Stereo pairing
Cons:
- Heavy and therefore not all that portable
- Quite expensive
- No voice control in Bluetooth mode
- Can't use two Sonos Move speakers as surrounds

Sonos Move: Sonos goes mobile
In short, I love the Sonos Move. I was initially surprised at how big and heavy the Sonos Move was and at 3kg and nigh on a foot tall, it isn't a speaker you're going to want to sling your backpack. But if you want great sound quality you have to accept some compromises.
Pros:
- Awesome sound quality
- Weatherproof and drop-proof
- Alexa and Google Assistant support
Cons:
- Big and heavy
- Expensive

Hands on with Sonos Move, Sonos' first Bluetooth speaker
Having dominated the multi-room market for years, it was an oddity that Sonos hadn't used its expertise to release a Bluetooth speaker.
