Sonos Move review: Should you buy it over Roam?
There are other great portable Bluetooth speakers out there - including Sonos' own Roam that is far smaller and better designed for constant portability - but there are none quite like the Sonos Move in terms of sound output and features, especially not for those already invested in the Sonos system. It's the Bluetooth speaker Sonos fans were waiting for.
Pros:
- Excellent sound quality
- Durable and water-resistant design
- Bluetooth capabilities
- AirPlay 2
- Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa support
- Stereo pairing
Cons:
- Heavy and therefore not all that portable
- Quite expensive
- No voice control in Bluetooth mode
- Can't use two Sonos Move speakers as surrounds

Sonos Move 2 review: Power, performance and portability
The Sonos Move 2 is all about refinements, and those refinements add up to some big improvements over the original Move. The adjustments to its design make it more intuitive to use, whilst also bringing some extra features, and the upgrades to the acoustic architecture make for a better sounding speaker overall. The Move 2 isn't as portable as the Roam, but it is more powerful with better sound performance. On the flip side, it's not as capable as the Era 300 in terms of sound performance, but it is more versatile, whilst still offering many of the same features, like USB-C line-in and Bluetooth.
Pros:
- Great design refinements
- Excellent performance overall
- Superb battery life
Cons:
- No Google Assistant
- Price increase over Move

The $399 Sonos Move marks the next evolution of smart speakers. With Auto TruePlay spatial tuning, a rugged design and built-in virtual assistants, it's an excellent indoor-outdoor audio device.
Pros:

Sonos Move - Black MOVE1AU1BLK review
The Sonos Move is a great speaker but it might not be for you. If you already are a part of or plan on joining the Sonos ecosystem then this is a great addition to your setup.
Pros:
- Reliable connection
- Solid Sonos app
- IP56 weatherproof build
- Supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
- Microphones work well
- can be toggled off
- Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa compatibility
- The charging cradle is great
Cons:
- Price
- AAC only
- no aptX
- The handle is not for carrying the speaker long distances
- Speaker is too heavy and awkward to be truly portable

Sonos Move
The Sonos Move is rugged, portable, sounds great, and works with an app that allows you to tweak the sound signature to a degree. Throw in voice control with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, and there's not much to complain about.

- Powerful audio with rich bass depth and bright highs
- Portable, dust- and water-resistant build
- Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice control
Cons:
- Expensive
- Heavy
- Sculpted, mono sound signature not for everyone

Sonos Move - Black MOVE1AU1BLK review
If you can live with its price and size, the Sonos Move is an excellent portable wireless speaker that expands the play area of your Sonos system.
Pros:
- A solid portable speaker for an existing Sonos system
- Sturdy, water-resistant, dustproof and voice-enabled (on a Wi-Fi network) with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa
- Up to 10 hours of playback
- Autotuning system calibrates to any environment
- The battery is replaceable.
Cons:
- Somewhat expensive, the Move is big and hefty for a portable speaker
- Battery life can be adversely impacted by how you use it.

Sonos Move - Black MOVE1AU1BLK review
If you’re looking for a versatile speaker that works just about anywhere you use it, the Sonos Move is an excellent (but expensive) option. It works as a full-fledged Sonos speaker at home and can be used in a wide variety of outdoor environments, as well.
Pros:
- All the features you’d expect from a Sonos speaker
- Good sound quality
- Solid battery life
- First Sonos with Bluetooth
- Weather-resistant and rugged design
Cons:
- Expensive
- Sound quality isn’t as good as other speakers in this price range
