Sonic Lost World (Wii U) Review

There's no hiding, no denying it – Sonic Lost World draws inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy. It looks like it, feels like it for most of the game and the levels all draw upon the planetoids theme we loved from the Galaxy titles. So how does Sonic slot into the equation? He's not Mario.

Sonic: Lost World

Lost World is the latest title in the Sonic series released on both Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. In this edition Dr. Eggman is at it again, harnessing the power of menacing creatures known as The Deadly Six but this time the creatures rise up against their master and for the first time Sonic and Dr.

Sonic: Lost World – review

Oh Sonic, how you effortlessly crush our dreams as though they were but hapless robots of Dr Robotnik's creation. Those trailers looked so good . An obvious and welcome dollop of Mario Galaxy mixed in with instantly recognisable Sonic-flavoured herbs and spices.

Sonic Lost World Review

In case you haven't read VideoGamer.com's take on the Wii U Version yet , know that Sonic fares a little better on the 3DS version of Lost World. There's a sense that the team who made it had a slightly better clue about how to design the levels around him, although it's still not fantastic,...

OXCGN's Sonic Lost World Review (Wii U)

Ah, Sonic. You were such a important impact in my childhood. Growing up with Sega consoles, I always looked forward to one of your new games. But now, how you have fallen from the platforming throne of the 16-bit era, once battling for the top mascot, you're now selling your image for insurance...

+ Visually Fantastic; great platformer for the Wii U; + You JUST play as Sonic; and none of his terrible friends; + Plenty of secret and unlockables

- Cheap Deaths Aplenty; - Wisp abilities are tacked on and unnecessary; - Boss fights are too easy and forgettable; - No Crush 40 or even Jun Senoue

Sonic Lost World review

Sonic Lost World isn't a bad game, but it's simply not the game Sega is capable of producing. Sonic games are generally built on two pillars: speed and attitude. While Lost World carries both of these, to varying success, when faced with the looming, and unfortunate, similarities to Nintendo's own...

+ Bright & colourful visuals; + Inspired level design; + 2D sections are fun; + Attempts a few new ideas

- New control scheme feels sloppy; - Cheap deaths aplenty; - Item sharing isn't all that useful

Sonic Lost World

Past 3D Sonic games have ranged from absolutely dismal to infrequently entertaining, but 'Lost World' represents something outrageously new for the Sonic Team over at Sega. They are finally making a real step in the direction of that original vision: translating Sonic's platforming and speed into...

Review: Sonic Lost World stumbles at high speed

A notable addition to the Sonic catalogue, but be prepared to turn the air blue from time to time.

Lush; alluring visuals; 2D stages remain the highlight; Impressive audio work

Frequently frustrating flaws; Power-ups are a waste of time; Slower Sonic takes some adjusting to
