Whenever I wasn't setting up a shot, emptying my lungs, and pumping a sharp metal bullet through the thick skull of an unsuspecting enemy soldier, I was frustrated with Sniper Elite III.

With how popular sniping is, it's really surprising how few games there is based around killing from afar. Still, when it comes to military shooters, it's the Call of Duty mould that most developers seem to strive for, which makes series' like Sniper Elite all the more welcome, as it's a series that...

Sniper Elite III once again puts players in the boots of a daring Allied sniper who must undertake several dangerous missions far behind enemy lines. Players return to the role of soldier Karl Fairburne, though he's a slightly younger, gruffer version of the man last seen in Sniper Elite V2 .

When it comes to first- and third-person shooters, I've never been one to play as a sniper. As much as I admire the power they wield, my aim isn't very good and I quickly grow impatient. I would rather run and gun, perhaps with a powerful shotgun or dual-wielding futuristic laser pistols.

Shooting someone in the face with a sniper rifle is nasty business. The Sniper Elite series has made a name for itself by embracing these skull-busting kills in all their gory detail.

Snipers don't fight tanks, or so I thought.

An average game, not much opportunity to explore the environment as you are hemmed in to tight corridors most of the time with very little opportunity to play the game your own way

I play a lot of FPS and other sniping games, but I found this the most engaging.

This game has great mechanics and gives you the freedom to play the game the way you want.

The graphics aren't of the highest quality but the bullet time scenes are well done.

If you liked the first two Sniper Elites, this new one is a proper upgrade. Less linear/more Sandbox, better graphics, better kill-cam graphics (don't forget your PS4 in-game recording when you do,) and the DLCs that followed are worth it. I wish this game didn't have to end!
