Silverstone Raven RVZ02 Mini-ITX Case Review

In the second quarter of 2014 we happened upon one of the best small form factor gaming cases yet, the Silverstone Raven RVZ01 . The RV01 quickly gained recognition for being the ultimate Steam Machine enclosure as it crams a fully-fledged enthusiast PC into an impressively small space.

It's as easy on the eyes as it is to work with; Surprisingly affordable; Smaller than its predecessor but can still handle GPUs up to 13" long; No case cooling? No problem! Smart design that uses component fans for airflow

Dust could be a concern on the filterless windowed model (a solid panel version with filters is $10 cheaper); Not really a con, but we wouldn't mind seeing another variant that eliminates the optical drive bay, if only for aesthetics

Silverstone Raven RVZ02 Mini ITX Case

I did a quick count and there are three systems in the Hardware Asylum Labs running Mini-ITX motherboards. These aren't high powered workhorses but rather small functional machines designed for a certain purpose. The first is a Linux based server.

Small Form Factor (12 Liters; SFX-L Power Supply Support; Video Card Support up to 13 inches; Only 3.5 Inches Thick; Elegant Layout; Passive Cooling

Passive cooling; 2.5 inch drive requirement (optional 3.5

One of the biggest hurdles when building a small form factor machine is the case. For far too long many enthusiasts have avoided building Mini-ITX systems due to the lack luster case selection that either forced them to use toaster style cases or revert to a larger desktop case.

SilverStone Raven RVZ02 Review

SilverStone's Raven and Fortress cases tend to be designs that take things to the extreme. The regular ATX models have traditionally had a heavy focus on outstanding air cooling, regularly dominating our thermal test graphs.

SilverStone Raven RVZ02 Mini-ITX Desktop Casing Review

The SilverStone Raven RVZ02 Mini-ITX Desktop Casing is beautiful, it retails at RM 359 which I think is quite reasonable considering the build quality. It's a sleek and compact casing that's carefully designed, one of the few Mini-ITX casings that I really enjoyed setting up.

SilverStone Raven Series RVZ02 Mini ITX Chassis

When SilverStone expanded their Mini-ITX chassis lineup to the Raven series with the RVZ01, the 1 4-litre box is deemed as one of the best chassis to build the ultimate Steam machine. It's uncommon that we could place a 300mm graphics card in a chassis this small that even a Titan X could fit in .

Great Mini ITX Case, Not the best for gaming

I would recommend this case for first time builders. If you want a rig that is slim and portable (you can buy a handle for around 20$) then this case is for you. lowered one egg because of the temperature inside the case and no option to cool the GPU side.

1; Easy to build, as a first time PC builder it was fun to build this PC; 2; Fits most GPUs (Graphics Cards) 3; can fit up to 3 SSDs or 2 SSDs and 1 3.5" HDD* (if you got clearance for it in the GPU side

No option to install a case fan to cool the CPU more No option to ventilate the GPU side besides the stock fan on the GPU; as a result the CPU side has better ventilation then the GPU side

This is a great case for a mini-ITX build! It looks amazing and feels like a solid, well build chassis. The compartmentalization of the GPU. PSU and motherboard mean there is little to no air contamination.

Great build quality: No sharp edges in cut-outs; header cables are sleeved; feels very solid and well built, Snap on dust filters, Great layout that maximizes capabilities despite size

It's a pain to take apart: Three screws (at least) for each of the 2 panels; sliding panels can be tricky to get in place a€" catches on cables, PSU switch is located inside the case. Need a paper clip to turn it on/off once panels are on, Dust filters impede air flow
