I've had this case for just shy of three years. While the system is powered on, it works well. However, completely powering off the case can result in a situation where the machine fails to boot. There is a known defect with the backplane which can cause a short when powering on the machine.

SilverStone DS380 NAS Case Review

There is seldom a time when I get more excited than when someone ships me a case designed specifically for storage. SliverStone told me they would be producing something that would get my fingers twitching in anticipation, and for the last couple of months it sat in a dark corner waiting for the day...

Great NAS Box!

Like others have said, the side plate is noticeable thicker than most cases which speaks to its quality. Love the amount of drives bays it has and the fans that keep everything cool.

compact design that fits a lot into a small space - lots of drives bays that fit both 3.5" & 2.5" without modifications needed - plenty of fans that move a good amount of air with relatively little noise - lockable front panel and lockable power button to prevent unwarranted power downs or removal...

- i didn't remove an egg for this but its compact space can make it difficult to get everything inside; just got be patient and work with it - forward facing USB ports and sound port has strange connector not compatible with the ASRock C2550D4I Mini ITX board - one of the side fans for drives is...

Great for NAS builds

Great case if you are building a NAS. Not recommended for gaming as the backplane design inhibits cooling somewhat.

Killer case for NAS builds - tons of drive bays and the hot-swap backplane is cool (but not necessary for me) Included case fans are fairly quiet (but noticeable in a quiet house) Magenetic dust filters - awesome Case is well-dampened against vibration and looks good

You have to buy the Silverstone SFX form-factor power supplies to fit in this case; Annoyingly, the modular power supply cables push against the backplane when everything is installed

SilverStone DS380 Review

It would be very easy to look at the DS380 as a simple home NAS box or simple and cheap SFF file server however to do so would be doing it an injustice. It's fair to say that the Small form factor case is definitely rising in popularity, and that a good few of us are looking to move our PCs from the...
