Silicon Power merges the speed of USB 3.0 with military ruggedness to make a portable HDD that can take a beating under water or in our lab.
Had it for less than 6 months and the connection for the USB to the drive became loose and disconnects with the slightest movement. Not great for a drive to use on the go.
Absolutely fantastic. Fast transfers (85Mb/s peak in my benchmarks) and wonderfully compact and non-fussy enclosure. Clip-in cable is also a great addition that's worth buying this over anything else (Losing your cables or having moulded cables poling out is a pain!
When I am writing this review, I have already used this unit for at least two long trips. I used this drive as mainly a time machine to my 2016 MBP and also used it to back up my photo images.
After years of waiting for the USB 3.0 spec to be written up and released to consumers we finally have a solid USB interface that is fast enough to meet the growing need for fast access portable storage!

Short cable is a bit too short and rigid
The Silicon Power Armor A80 is in compliance with US military grade transit drop test (MIL-STD-810F 516.5 procedure IV) and it also passed IEC529 IPX7 (waterproof test), but what about it's performance
If you're anything like me keeping your data safe and secure is of the utmost importance. I'm talking about keeping it safe from hackers though. Sure that's important but what I'm talking about it keeping it safe from life.
